Holy cow, I have lived here on and off since 1996, and officially got a house in 99. I thought we were well on our way of living in a good state. Got a governor who loved hunters, opened all kinds of land for the public, put in a DNR director that is pro hunting. Now here weare with O'malley in office. A liberal who severely failed at cleaning up Baltimore.
First month in office, he's ready to sign a assult rifle ban in MD. But oh yes, he's ready to give illegal immigrants a break on college tuition, and drivers licence to them.
"That's the kind of crap that happens when you elect democrats. Just look at Chicago."
Was stationed in southern MD for nearly ten years altogether. Loved the place. Remember my ex attending ahandgunclass taught by a MD State Police Sgt. He told the trainees: "If youwound ansob who is trying to come through your window, shoot him in the head and drag him into the room. Wewant to hear only one story when we get there." How 40 years have changed things in MD.
Liberal panderingof criminals, scalawags and misfits gotMD where it is today.
And they elected in a guy who litterly wasted millions of dollars and did nothing for baltimore. Crime is up and worst than its ever been. MD is a wonderful state in a lot of ways. You got the bay, you got the mountains, and the beach. Deer are big and corn fed. Amazing that 3 counties, can control the interest for whole state.Only things these counties care for is people being able to buy mercedes, and shopping malls and everyone going into debt.
And now a smoking ban in all of baltimore with a plan for the whole state in restraunts and bars. I don't smoke anymore and hate the smell. But where does it end? Can't people have the rights to make bad decisions for themselves?
Can't people have the rights to make bad decisions for themselves?
Well when I'm sitting next to them they are making a bad decision for me or my kids.
NY passed the anti smoking law and I was against it, but it is nice to not to walk into a cloud of smoke when I go out.
Ilaugh everytime I see someone run out side when it's 8 degrees with a 20 mile an hour wind to have a smoke including my wife.
True, I agree. I don't smoke, and don't like to be around smokers. But I don't eat out much, and I dont' goto bars much anymore. I think I am just legistated to death.
Worked on the E. Shore of MD for over 2 decades and lived back and forth from DE to E.Shore for a few years.Great place - good hunting - fishing - nice folks....but - when we got ready to buy a house I told wife we were moving back to DE.Tired of paying the taxes and a governor who hated the E.Shore(Shafer).Remember Shafers "S*** House" Eastern Shore Comments.
They finally got a Repub in there and then canned him after 1 term - Geeeezzz.Back to square one for MD.
The people of Maryland are used to the political machine that revolves around Annapolis and circles through Baltimore Cityand Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. It's always been there, and it probably always will. Mostare too used to the way things are to be anything but apathetic. Marylanders don't want indepedence--they want the usualhandout every four years.
There are plenty of conservatives and "free-thinkers", but just not enough. I imagine the Church also has a tremendous amount of influence over politics, what with Maryland Catholics being notoriously liberal. It's hell of a lot cleaner and more beautiful than New Jersey, but politically, it's not much better.
