What I love is all this green power talk. Sounds great, but about all we can make alcohol out of is corn or at least on a large scale. If we turned ever kernel of corn into alcohol, we would only meet about 30% of the nations demand. Besides, Ethenol is very inefficient. It has less energy potential than any other hydrocarbon, so we will have to use a lot more to get the same energy return. Besides, anything that burns will release Carbon dioxide and water. Use twice as much alcohol, you still have lots of carbon dioxide emissions.
We are working on cellulose fermentations, but until we can synthesize termite gut enzymes, no dice.
