Funds Being Secretly Funneled To Violent Al Qaeda-Linked Groups

New Yorker columnist Sy Hersh says the "œsingle most explosive"� element of his latest article involves an effort by the Bush administration to stem the growth of Shiite influence in the Middle East (specifically the Iranian government and Hezbollah in Lebanon) by funding violent Sunni groups.
Hersh says the U.S. has been "œpumping money, a great deal of money, without congressional authority, without any congressional oversight"� for covert operations in the Middle East where it wants to "œstop the Shiite spread or the Shiite influence."� Hersh says these funds have ended up in the hands of "œthree Sunni jihadist groups"� who are "œconnected to al Qaeda"� but "œwant to take on Hezbollah."�

Most of the folks in the eastern province of Saudi are Shiite. Saudi has treated them like dogs for years. Right now the Saudis are very antsy about the possibility of an Iran supported Shia uprising in the middle of theirprimary oil province.Every time the Saudis get antsy the US jumps. If this is true then it is impeachment time.
