Now we are all just brain washed by the NRA to blindly attack just for the hell of it. Not becausewe are standing up for our rights against anyone who tries to or makes statements that would put that in jepordy.
If you read the entire article, it's actually not bad. It quotes intelligent people in the gun industry and for a refreshing change, does not quote or mention the anti's. Outdoor life and Remington were both quoted with extremely reasonable and intelligent statements about the situation and issues raised by it.
Outdoor Life's Todd Smith rightly points out that Zumbo's statement essentially paints AR gunowners as terrorists and they have a right to be upset at being called terrorists. Remington's Tommy Millner goes even further and states he owns AR's and "supports everyone's right to do so." These are not rabid statements and actually showcase an industry that supports gunowners and their 2nd amendment rights. It really doesn't get much better than that.
Quote:
The magazine's [Outdoor Life's] editor in chief, Todd W. Smith, said that Zumbo submitted his resignation after hearing of the large number of readers (about 6,000, at last count) who had sent e-mails demanding his dismissal. Smith dismissed as "conjecture" a question about whether Zumbo would have been fired had he not resigned."Jim is a good guy, and I feel bad about this unfortunate situation," Smith said. "We are living in very delicate times. For someone to call these firearms 'terrorist' rifles, that is a flash-point word. You are painting a bunch of enthusiasts with the word. They don't like being called terrorists."
Quote:
That prompted Remington to issue a news release, saying that it has "severed all sponsorship ties with Mr. Zumbo effective immediately."Remington chief executive Tommy Millner issued a personal appeal to gun owners who might be thinking about boycotting the company's products: "Rest assured that Remington not only does not support [Zumbo's] view, we totally disagree," Millner said. "I have no explanation for his perspective. I proudly own AR's and support everyone's right to do so!"

I don't think anybody opposes Zumbo's right to his own opinion or the right to express it. The problem is that he is an icon in the hunting industry and like any other celebrity, his words get far more attention paid to them than yours or mine. He jeopardized AR owners gun rights and still doesn't understand that all gunowners, hunters and everybody else who likes weapons, hunting or even fishing need to stick together and support each other. Otherwise, they eliminate us one by one. And for those of you who think fishing is safe from these nuts, check out Peta's stance on fishing. Obviously they are opposed to it.

I would've preferred to see the quotes from Zumbo's editor and the Remington CEO closer to the beginning of the article, but I do seethe newswriter's focus here, and understand why things were laid out as they were. Not to mention that I have a slight bias, at least more so than the average American news viewer.
"This shows the zealousness of gun owners to the point of actual foolishness," said Pat Wray, a freelance outdoors writer in Corvallis, Ore., and author of "A Chukar Hunter's Companion."
I'm sorry, I find that ironic and funny. These "gun supporters" turn on Zumbo in the name of "gun love" and then they're labeled zealots for it and they look even WORSE afterwards ?
Quote:
"For so many years, Zumbo has been a voice for these people -- for hunting and for guns -- and they just turned on him in an instant," Wray said. "He apologized all over himself, and it didn't do any good."
Damn Zealots .........
If Zumbo had said
