We already hashed out what he did so Im not real interested in that.Hes already lost his sponsors, writing job, etc... so Im not real interested in that either. But I am curious how you think reports like this are gonna go over with the non gun owning public?
After reading the artical it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth, I see another hunting writer I never heard of called hunters zealots in his interview. The NRA used the occasion to stop just short of making outright threats against anyone who dares to be antigun, thier comments came across as almost daring anyone to stand up to them. They sounded a little extreme even for the NRA but I have no idea if they were taken out of context or if there was more to the interview they chose to leave out.The entire artical came across as if we strung a guy up for no real reason and are a bunch of assualt rifle toting vindictive rednecks.
Just wondering if the blog was worth the bad publicity were gonna face after the liberal media runs with this and puts thier own spin on the story.

The article that you just linkedIS the liberal media spin on the story. The Washington Post is as ultra-left wing as you can get in this country. They are the consummate gun haters in the USA.

Why would readingleft wingtrash in a left wing NRA hatingrag "leave a bad taste in your mouth?"
I see it as a great case for the anti-assault rifle anti-semi auto(they are the same in realty, to make one illegal makes the other) agenda. Very damaging when a professional hunter and NRA member in the spotlight makes such a comment.
Here is how some of the public is viewing it. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-1022
Its easy to see why we get the people that we do to run for public office.
Here we have a man that has lived a life most people only dream of, shooting ,hunting and traveling the world all the while being payed for doing it. And with one slip of the tongue it is all for naught. My how quick we are to judge. We seem to be surrounded by those who not only would but have cast the first stone.
The purityyou expect of others is amazing to me. The man wrote something that pissed some of you off get over it. You self righteous ones that have never faltered in you daily life deserve some sort of award maybe a stack of atta boys tokeep beside your keyboard to remind your selves just how gem like you really are.
The man made a mistake ,and being a man he owned up to it and has apologized ,more times than I feel is necessary.
And for those of you that are gloating over his fall from grace I'm sure the free time he now has will be enjoyed like a new puppy on a spring day.

Yep, and wheres most of the country get there news from?Of course theres a liberal spin on it, that was the whole point of my question. The question was how will non gun owners view it, not what my personal opinion on the matter is.
I tend to think thatmembers of the general public who have already decided for or against "assault weapons" probably won't change their minds solely due to the Zumbo debacle. On the other hand, the fence-sitters could be swayed either way based on the actions of hunters like us. I wouldn't be suprised to start reading and hearing about varmint hunts with ARs, or deer hunts with SKS, etc. We just need to keep on hunting, keep on standing up for our rights, and show the country that there's more to semi-autos than war and terrorism.
Also, I think we need to shoot across Wray's bow, if he keeps apologizing for Zumbo's ignorance. I know a lot of older hunters and shooters who don't like assault weapons, but then again, they don't like hip hop or metal either. Times change, whether we like it or not. Gun rights, however, are timeless.
I'm curious how some hunters (bawanajim) see the reaction of many sportsmen as wishing ill will towards Zumbo? Personally, I wish Zumbo the best in any endeavor he chooses. But I do not want him speaking for me.
Nobody is telling Zumbo he cannot speak his opinion. But we don't have to listen to his opinion. Zumbo built his career of fame and fortune in the hunting industry because hunters like you and I bought what he had to say; we watched his TV show, we read his articles, and the result was sponsors buying into his TV show and Outdoor Life giving him a job for three decades. We listened and read because we liked what he had to say. That alone was what allowed him to build a career out of hunting. Then he made a statement that we did not like, and so we said we were through listening to him. His sponsors had no choice but to back out. We made him who he was because we liked what he had to say, and so he had a career in hunting. Then he said something we didn't like, and the result is that he no longer has a career in hunting. I don't understand what is so difficult to comprehend about that.
Personally, I'm getting tired of hearing comments made insinuating that we owe Zumbo something. I think those comments are moronic. What do we owe Zumbo? What has he done for us? We owe him nothing. He owes us (hunters in general) everything, because we made him what he is by buying his magazines and watching his TV show. There's been talk about biting the hand that feeds you; who was feeding who?

I love Christmas lights. They remind me of the people who voted for Obama. They all hang together; half of them don't work, and the ones that do, aren't that bright.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do
not understand, no explanation is possible.
A golf course is a willful and deliberate misuse of a perfectly good rifle range.

I hadn't heard of Zumbo before this whole mess. I don't really relate to him, nor do I feel that I owe him anything. A lot of the old school sportsmen are retiring or passing away, and whether you like or dislike Zumbo, he is too. It's up to all of us to watch each other's backs. Celebrities rarely do anything for the common man.
