That's the thing, Red--if kids don't learn discipline during their formative childhood years, there really doesn't seem to be much hope. How many people do you know who grew up with no personal responsibilities and became upstanding, productive adults? Some people don't get their crap together until they hit middle age, if at all.
The last thing we need in this country is a bunch of brats eroding the discipline and work ethic of the military, which while good, could be better anyway.
The armed forces will never provide people what they needed from their parents to begin with...
