Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Corporal Punishment....

is there anyplace in our "civilized society" for a return of corporal punishment in some manner? Its seems other methods of dealing with violent criminals, such as incarcerationare not effective, especially if you consider you can get out on parole from a life sentence for first degree murder in the state of Texas after only 6 years. I invite any feedback.

I find it disgusting that liberals place more value on the
lives of serial killers than the lives of innocent infants! [/align]

Im agianst it. Not because I feel it is wrong. My issue is the cost. We get to pay for the losers appeals. After the loser is dead, he feels no more pain. I think life in prison would be worse. If the law was changed and the appeals process was not so expensive, I would change my tune. Its sad to read stories like American Pride posted. I dont blame the absence of the death penalty on that, I blame the system. If they released him, he apparently did not get tried on an offense that merited death. Not by my book. I feel a person like that needs nothing more than a bullet between the eyes.

When I say corporal punishment I am not being exclusive to death penalty, how about the stocks for someone or castration given certain circumstances?

Chain gangs would certainly provide some much needed road work in Michigan. But that wouldn't be corporal punishment, that would be job training!
Good clean water, lots of oatmeal, some cheap protein would be all that would be necessary to keep a group of inmates working hard. The occaisional beating for slackers would be intstruction for the others.

Everything old is new again!

I have often advocated returning flogging to the penal system, it works quite well in Singapore and many other countries. I walked down a back street(several actually) in Singapore in '82, I was drunk as a lord, had a pocket full of money, and wasn't the least bit afraid.
