That's some sound logic there, If.
1. We are engaged in combat in Iraq;
2. The Taliban are in Afghanistan;
3.The Taliban are in Afghanistan because we are in Iraq.
The Taliban are still fighting because they hide, organize, and stagein Pakistan between attacks. You could put 130,000 troops in the Afghanistan and you'd still have millions of square miles of mountains and craggy scrub land to search, including caves and tunnels. Meanwhile our targets are laughing their @$$es off across the border in Waziristan, Pakistan because we don't have authority to come after themin any meaningful scale.
In any case, OK, so a company sized Taliban force took Podunk Village. I guess it's just a matter of time before they take Kabul.
This is a militarily insignificant target we're looking at. There are a few hundred nuts and a few hundred small arms, with some RPGs and mortars here and there. If we roll into town now, the Taliban will flee while using the civilian population as shields. Let them leave on their own accord, at which point we can chase them down, or wait for the civilians to get out, at which point we can level the village if need be. Whatever the case, going in with guns a'blazing isn't the best way of going about this.
By the way, I'm surprised you didn't mention Bush by name in this thread. Good job, you're learning...
