Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Today's Presidential address

If you guys haven't read this, you may want to take a peek at the Q&A section at the end...

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/relea...0070214-2.html

This came on this morning as I was getting ready for work, and I opted to stay home and watch most of this before leaving. What cannot be determined by the text is the force and conviction by which GW responded to questions concerning Iran and the possible link to arms for the insurgents in Iraq.

His demeanor suggests that the election and placement of General Petraeus may only be a pre-emptive move to initiate a conflict with Iran, with a new (fresh) leader on board...

Theybrought ina general who specializes in air strike andput him in control of ground troops in Iraq. Makes alot of sense to have this general close to Iran wouldn't you say? Not hard to figure out what they are goanna do.

I hope the President has learned from his mistakes, and realizes that under stratgized millitary involvement is not the right way of handling these people. I hope he stays true to his word that he is going to exhaust every diplomatic means in Iran to try to take care of this peacfully. PLEASE GEORGE, look at whats happened in Iraq.

Nobody wants to go to war with Iran. But you know, sometimes there isn't much choice. Either lose a few lives there and now, or lose some more elsewhere down the road. Tehran must not have nukes. Put all of the political philosophy aside and look at the number of lives that will be destroyed when Israel is nuked and WWIII commences.

This crap isn't going to smooth itself out on its own...

How about letting Israel take care of the Iranian nuke problem. Why must Big Brother always intervene to save the world? At the appropriate time Israel will take care ofIranian nuke development with one swift blow.

Because Big Brother is the only real superpower, and the only force capable of doing the job right. Isreal is going to be screwed no matter what. Either they get nuked due to inaction, or they get overrun by surrounded Islamic states because they bombed Iran.

While I value our alliance with Isreal, my primary concern is averting a world war sparked in the Middle East. The tinderbox is dry enough as it is without waiting for one nut or another to make their first move.

I do not think we're going to attack Iran. It might become necessary in the future, but I don't think it'll happen on this president's watch.

But if we could develop a plan through which Iran's nuclear capabilities could be destroyed by air strikes without having to send ground forces into the country, I'd be all for it.

We don't need to continue to be Isreal's lap dog, ready to do their dirty work every time the mid-east burps. Isreal can take care of their own, and they've proved it time and again.
I have to laugh every time I hear someone call the U.S. "Israel's lap dog". Come on, people, you can't be that short-sighted.

Isreal is a buffer between the radical Middle East and the moderate West, including Europe and the U.S. We help Israel because it suits our goals, not because they are so powerful that they pull the strings in Washington. You really think politicians give a damn about saving Israel at their own expense? They do it because we'd rather see them get it than us. Our relationship with them illustrates a common bond against a common enemy, and really little else.

Quote:
I like Isreal, and they are our allies, but defending them and their policies at all costs is not key to our national interests.
Islamic nuts want both countries off the map. I suppose we shouldn't have saved England at the expense of hundreds of thousands of American dead either.

Quote:
Let'em take of themselves, they got the hardware.
They're capable, but can only last so long on their own in a protacted war.

Quote:
Many of our Arab problems stem from backing Isreal even when they engage in terrorist activities themselves. No reason we should be doing that, not in our security interests.
Israel came into being looooong after the First Crusade. I can't tell you how many times I've spoken with Muslims overseas who still actively talk about the Crusades. Israel is just the lastest thing they've used to justify their "struggle" against the West.

Quote:
As for Isreal getting nuked? Nope, they'd kill the Palestinians and many other Arabs too, notgonna happen.
I don't think manyradical regimes would think twice of killing the Palestinian beggars if it meant wiping out a large number of the Jews, specifically Zionists. They all think they're going to Heaven anyway, so what's the difference?

Quote:
Be their friend but let them handle their own issues - we are not Isreal's keeper and never should have been.
I don't think Tel Aviv can handle a world war on their own.
