I agree. We've placed ourselves in a position where just about have to win at all costs.
For what? For whom? Was "freeing the Iraqi people" our mission in the "war on terror?"
The threads posted on this board lately are indicative of a nation divided...the same nation which was arguably more united than it had been in at least 50 years.
If that does raise questions about leadership and the lack of planning, I don't know what does.
It almost certain that we'll witness a house cleaning at the next election. What a shame for the Republicans...they had it all and whizzed it out the window.
In line with your words, Iff, we must now sit back, bite our nails, and pray to God that the Iraqis make the right choices...many more American troops will be spent if they don't, a staggering amount of our money will have been essentially wasted, and no matter what they do, we'll remain more vulnerable no matter what happens next regarding Iran, North Korea, and the other far more serious threats we have yet to face.
At the very least, I hope our kids are provided with what they need, and the "permission" to do what they've been trained to do if and when it hits the fan.
