Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Interesting view on "liberals"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_liberalism

I especially like the part near the bottom about "liberal concensus-1970 to present" Especially the last paragraph.

When and where did the modern Liberals go wrong. Why do the modern liberals want to take part of my money (my liberty to earn it and take liberty in spending it as I please) and give it to those who do not have as much? Or better yet, why do they all want to grab my guns?

Personally I consider myself a conservative liberal,,,,,, wait, I mean a liberal conservative.

I didn't read all that. I don't see Liberals supporting individual rights -- at least not the right to keep and bear arms. I don't see Liberals supporting free enterprise. Aren't the liberals ready to substitute "Universal National Healthcare" for our current free market (or closer to free market) healthcare system?

That's not really an accurate description, is it? As a party, they certainly don't favor my individual liberty to own guns, and they aren't opposed to restrictions on my liberty to own guns.

I thought Liberalism in the USA was a broad political and philosophical mindset held by people who harbor the mistaken belief that they're smarter than everyone else and who want to impose their beliefs on conservatives whom they view as their intellectual inferiors.

as opposed to some conservatives, who believe they are enacting a Divine mandate to tell us how to live and die?

Let's face it, both ends of the spectrum have lost their way with respect to individual rights. they're just invading them from different angles.

Very true. Thats why I consider myself a moderate. To far left or right and I might fall of the fence.

Wikipedia'sis an antiquated, romanticized account of American Liberalism, and is pretty much confined to the history books. I suppose there are arespectable number of pure liberals of the old fashion, but the reality of modern politics is that things revolve around parties more often than not, and voters' agreement or disagreement with one platform or another.

The Democrat Party, which claims to favor this dated form of Liberalism, is compromised of many stereotypical fatcat politicians, and is driven more by competition and power than idealism.

Modern liberalism = pushing the boundaries on the levels of Marxism that the American public will swallow.

Depends on what liberty, and who is trying to exercise it. For instance, they are all for protecting the "right" of gays to have a parade down main street and display what they believe, or for a woman to exercise her "right" to kill her unborn child; but heaven forbid someone say "one nation, under God" in school, or pray in public, or display the 10 Commandments.

Whoever wrote that definition either stays stoned, or thinks everyone else stays stoned, or both.
