the first thing i look at is their stance on gun control...then the lesser of two evils after that ....
Most Democrats are anti guns. but not all of them......balance is the key.
heck they barely get anything done anyway

You summed it up in the last sentence.
People have been voting for and against people based solely on their stance on abortion for decades and nothing has changed in either direction. Nearly all politicians will vote strictly party lines unless they want to not have any funding for the next elections.
As long as neither party controls the white house and 2/3 of both the senate and house, very little will likely get done as has been the tradition for as long as I've been alive.
While voting for a candidate based on gun control is important to me, I doubt it really makes much difference. Look at the massive uphill battle it took to put a 3 day waiting period on the purchase of handguns and assault rifles!
I don't know about anyone else on here, but I know well in advance of 3 days before I am going to go hunting so this hasn't and won't effect me.
I vote conservative most of the time because it follows most of my beliefs. However living in Iowa right now, any candidate being pro-gun control would be political suicide, which allows me a lot of free range in choices at the polls.
