Should you be saying "score two for the US Constitution"? Or, are you only talking about one thing here and simply using the wrong term somewhere. "Suspension of habeus corpus" has nothing to do with whether one needs a warrant for a wiretap.
Yes, Bush is the first president in history to obtain intelligence throughunscrutinized methods in the course of war. TheConstitution was in a state of unperturbed bliss before he walked into the Oval Office. How dare he try to beat our enemies without giving them full legal protection. What a sad state America has come to.
Let me be the first to propose that we dig up Lincoln, FDR, etc. and impeach them for violating civil liberties. Then we can let a howlingmob led by IFF parade them down to the Potomoc and dump them in the water.[:@]
They actually did something like that to a dead pope once.

Sorry, I was thinking of the detaining of "lawful combatants" with no charges, no right to an attorneyetc.
And here, aren't you referring to Non-U.S. citizen UNlawful enemy combatants?
I thought we went through a whole discussion some months ago where I cited for you the portions of the statute guaranteeing detainees the right to know the charges against them, the right to obtain discovery, the right to counsel, etc., etc., etc.
America has indeedreached a sad state when its citizens are willing to sacrifice liberty to purchase a little temporary safety while excusing encroachments on the rights of the people to further a partisan adgenda.
LMAO, you really take the cake, If. A partisan agenda, eh? I try to explain myself, but I guess you just can't understand that my agenda involves killing the enemy, not bending and swaying the winds of partisanship.
All citizens have to make sacrifices in war. Always have, always will. It's what you do to win. Besides that point, how can a citizen be a "NON U.S. PERSON" who may be monitored without FISA approval?

RE: Score one for the US Constitution!
Just curious, does the U.S. constitution apply to non Americans? I am asking because Im a little confused as to what phones were taped. I believe I had read (I say believe because I do not honestly remember) that the calls were all from foreign countries. Not domestic calls. As for Gitmo, I lose little sleep over that. Right or wrong, I do not feel badly about the detainees. They are the worst of the worst and came from the true war on terrorism.
