Moscow, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) One of the Russian companies recently sanctioned by the US, the Machine-building Design Bureau, handed over to Syria the Strelets missile systems it had contracted, Valeri Kashin, chief designer of that firm said Tuesday.
Kashin affirmed that Strelets anti-aircraft systems, which are installed in vehicles and enable firing ground-to-air rockets.
In the last five years, Russia superseded the US as leader of the world market for weaponry and military equipment, with sales totaling $26.9 billion, while Washington s exports were worth a billion less, followed by France (6.3), Germany (4.8) and the UK (4.4).
Five years earlier, the North American nation dominated that market with sales above $53 billion while Moscow hardly attained $16 billion.
