how did pitbulls get their name?

I told my wife that the first thing I saw when I walked out of the house was what I was naming it .......... I named it Two Dogs Screwing .........

I named my Corgi dumb dumb, because she aint got no sense.

I named myAussie Pees on Self, because well, the names pretty much says it I guess

I named the golden lab Lucky Dog in the trailer next to our land,because everytime I'd tried to run it down to kill it its escaped me. Lucky Dog

The dogs across the road I called Come Closer 1 and Come Closer 2. 100 yards is just to far to make a sure shot, you know ?

Mr brother-in-law's is named Pimpin', because my BIL watches too much MTV. My father-in-law calls him Scoobie. My cousin's is named Auggie, after the Steyr AUG, a bull pup weapon.

I think some old trapper originally lassoed one of the wild beast somewhere around what is now known as Virginia.
Being a wild animal it took off dragging the old mountain man behind him.
The wild dog then turned to fight the man, but thanks to a trusty limb and the fact that this wild dog "locks" it jaws and the lack of intellegence does not let them let go, the old mounain man wedged the limb between to trees.
He went home and got his Bull and returned.
The wild dog was still locked to the limb so he tied it up like a possum and drug it home.
This still proved hard for the Bull because the sheer strength of the neck muscles of this wild dogstill gave it enoughleverage to form an anchor.
So since you must "Pit' the strength of the "Bull" to catch this wild breed, they are called...
Pit Bull

Or was that the other way around in an entirly different place?

lol yeah the pitbull that has LOCKING jaws!! LOL that turned out to be the biggest Myth some Expert ever gave a dog.Turned out that they did not lock but had the ability to hold tight with their jaws and i did some practice with my dog and had him hold a stick in his mouth while i pulled and pulled his lips back to see what part of his mouth he used. He used the very very back teeth that are huge and have a space and the upper teeth went into that hollow area. Little bastard never gives me the stick back when he gets it into that part of his mouth. Try playing football and someone fumbles it, good luck at getting it back, he just stole himself a new toy. Same with basket balls.

yup and it only cost me a couple fingers!30 stitchs later i had them back on! Note the thumb and index finger being the only 2 fingers holding his mouth open.
