Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Hmong hunter's death has Wis. on edge

By EMILY FREDRIX, Associated Press Writer Sun Jan 7, 5:20 PM ET
GREEN BAY, Wis. - A Hmong hunter has been found dead in a wildlife area in a case that is stirring memories of a mass shooting that exposed racial tensions.

Cha Vang, 30, of Green Bay, was found dead Saturday morning, a night after he was reported missing in the Peshtigo Harbor Wildlife Area in northeastern Wisconsin. Investigators have not said how they believe he died but said they are treating the case as a homicide. An autopsy is planned for Monday.

Cha Vang had a hunting license and was with three other people Friday hunting for small game, Steffes said.

Nichols, also a licensed hunter, was alone, Steffes said. She couldn't say what he was hunting or whether he had a weapon. A bow-and-arrow deer hunt was also going on at the time, she said.

Does it bother anyone that this man was armed and had a license but could not speak the English language?

This is a scary thing thats going on here. I can see a real gun fight happening just because of the past event.

A felon with a firearm. Well, he's just about screwed no matter what happened. If he murdered the other guy, hopefully he'll get his in prison.

Sorry Nichols, wrong Cha(i) Vang. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

Kanikula said he did not know if the shooting was accidental or if it was a hate crime.
no more a hate crime than what Chai Vang did - this bothers me, than anyone of "minority status" cubject to a crime automaticlaly deems the crime itsself as "hate"

Quote:
Vang's body was found partially concealed in a wildlife area. His wife has said he spoke little English and was unlikely to have started an argument or provoked an attack.
You're in the US, SPEAK ENGLISH - but that his body was partially hidden means bad things for the guy being arrested and charged

Quote:
Deputies arrested Nichols after he showed up at a medical center with a single, non-life threatening gunshot wound. Kanikula said Nichols was being held for a probation violation as a felon in possession of a firearm.
Send him back to prison for that felony vioaltion if for nothing else

Tensions are only get higher in WI. The incident last September, and now this to start 2007. There is a definate problem, and unless the various hunting, Hmong, and government agencies start working on a way to defuse this, it will only get worse.
