RE: Anyone Taking Bets?
When it comes to serious debate, I mean what I say and say what I mean.
I'm not calling anybody a coward for disagreeing with me. I'm doing it because people use fear instead of logic to make decisions that affect all of the people in this country. The kind of emotional drivel I hear coming out of the "ban all pit bulls" crowd sounds uncannily like the rhetoric spewed by the gun grabber camps.
I fear many things in this world, some a little, some a lot. However, I also realize that I can't control everything around me, and even ifI could, it would often be at the expense of others' liberties. Fear is something to conquer, not surrender to. I'd rather put my own selfishness aside and make the best of what is admittedly a pretty damned good situation we have here with American life. That gives me the strength to face my fears and live a happy, productive life, not wallow in doubt and negativity.
And while I have a rather dry sense of humor, I really don't joke around or probe for reactions very much when it comes to legitimate issues that affect or could affect us all equally. I'm just here to share ideas and learn a thing or two. I doubt the so-called intellectual elite would take this forum very seriously, but it is one of the most philosophically diverse (and downright fun) places to debateI've ever found on the Web.
