DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group and China's Chery Automobile Co. have agreed on a plan for the Chinese manufacturer to build small cars to be sold worldwide. The cars, which already are being designed, would be based on an existing model but will be modified jointly by Chrysler and Chery engineers, Chrysler spokesman Jason Vines said Friday. Chrysler is taking the lead on the design and will ensure that the vehicles meet high quality standards, he said.
They will be sold at Chrysler dealerships in the U.S., Europe and elsewhere under a Chrysler Group brand as either a Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep.
I know, I know.... global economy, free market economy, world market, cheap labor rules, blah blah freaking blah.
We all may not live long enough to see the disaster heading our way in this country but I'm certain our kids will.
Come on, fling it at me, let's hear it. [&o]

I wish I had some of my 401K money invested more in foreign funds... I made less than 13% return last year. Mutual Funds focusing on investments in China returned 60+%... Guess I'll be working until I'm 106 years old.

Those plans have been in the works for years , all of the larger auto makers have plants in Mexico to cut labor costs . But one thing the Mexxies have learned from us is that they don't have to take peanuts from their employers forever . They're increasingly beginning to organize and demand better , something their commie Chinese counterparts can only dream of , and the principle reason why the Chinese are so attractive to US businesses . Even if the US car makers didn't set up there the Chinese would inevitably begin marketing cars here by themselves . They do make cars too , you know . Bob , you're old enough to remember looking at the first Datsun small pick ups to arrive here and scratch your head wondering what kind of jackass would buy such a "tiny useless truck" . I can remember when the first Subarus arrived where I live , they couldn't give them away at first . Toyota ? Don't you really mean "toy auto" ? Wink , wink . Hyundai ? How the hell do you pronounce that ? Hmmm ... Where are they now ? Face it dude , we're not the big dogs of manufacturing that we used to be , we priced ourselves out of the labor market decades ago . Want a nickel's worth of free advice ? Start buying stock in those companies that are selling us out to foreign labor , at least you'll profit from it in time to retire comfortably .

Time to get a financial planner who is trained to give you the advice you need to make some money in a safe way. I sent my brother, who is still working with a 401 K tomineand he advised him on various ways to re-allocate his 401k. My brother is all smiles now because now he knows that there are people who are trained in these things and he doubled his return.

All you guys want to se how bad it is....start to look at all the things you have in the house...including electronics, telecom equipment, cloths and even hard goods. The phrase "Made in China" will be evident and is a sobering thought. Many of the common run of the mill things we all use and take for granted are actually made in China.

Champlain- You're exactly right, most stuff is already made in foreign countrys so lets just get used to it.
But as for the Hyundai's- They are actually made in the USA now. They have a plant in like Oklahoma, Kansas, something like that.
