so very sad. The dog the uncle has/had is already banned yet, it was kept and even more frustrating, allowed to bearound the young gal...very sad...[&o]...poor thing didn't stand a chance...
This is another case just like banning weed ,it makes it illegal but it does nothing to stop it.

Because they always say " oh, MY dog would never do that, pooochy wooochy LOVES kids " etc etc and they're only fooling themselves.
Cocker Spaniels aren't bread to attack and kill like pit bull type dogs are , they were originally sporting dogs for birding I believe. HUGE difference
If we can't ban the breed, then the owners of these beasts should be required to maintain $10,000,000 in liability insurance coverage. If they can't afford the required insurance, then "the authorities" should be able to go into their home and execute the dog on the spot.
Motrin: Sure, cocker spaniels have bitten people. But, I would venture to bet that the most vicious cocker spaniel attack pales in comparison to the most mild pit bull attack.
ipscshooterthats what mose dog "bans" are - they are heavy restrictions that forces the stupid public to own responsibility for their animals actions when otherwise they'd not do so, in the process making it a much safer place for everyone
Just sick. People should be charged with felony child abuse for keeping a dog like that around.
I heard a news clip yesterday where a lady let her soiled diaper and t-shirt 3 year old son play alone outside. The boy was found wandering the side of a busy interstate some 300 yards from his home. Thankfully a man stopped and rescued him. When the police found the mother, they took not only the boy away from her but her 2 year old daughter as well. Both kids were in nasty soiled diapers, living in an apartment with feces all over the walls and dirty diapers everywhere. When the boy was found he was shivering. Doesn't that make you sick? The mother didn't seem to think it was a big deal. She is being charged with felony child neglect.
Sometimes I freaking hate people.

If you try and ban the type of dog it won't work. It's just like the assault rifle ban here in California. Only the criminals have them and people like me can't own an AR type rifle.

jeepkid - the differnce is that never has an assault rifle killed anyone. Ever. People kill people, the gun is inanimate and cannot kill anyone.
Dogs dig out, jump fences, are turned loose, etc etc and they attack and injure and kill - most often pit bull type dogs are doing this. Not beagles, not schitzu's, not hound dogs - pit bull's. Serious restrictions will limit them, its not like you can hide a dog like you can hid a gun, you know ? And in the process of limiting who can own them, so too will it protect the animals and the people around them.
