Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Still complaining about no Sunday hunting in Virginia

Hey there...

Check this out. I just got a new custom decal in the mail. A waterfowler named Chester in TN makes all sorts of decals. He is on a waterfowl website called "Refuge Forums" as a moderator.

http://www.refugeforums.com/refuge/

He has a great website too in case you want a decal made.

http://www.outdoordecals.com/

Anyway, check out what he made for me! I am still carrying on about no Sunday hunting in Virginia, so he made a bunch of these decals. [8D]

This is the back window of my Chevy Silverado....

I am so tempted, Buster T.... I am so tempted!!!

Bowhunting is silent, so nobody would hear an odd "gunshot" on a Sunday morning anyway!

Then again, getting caught is a big, big, BIG fine....

There are risks in life ButchA. Assuming you were hunting land almost assured to NOT get caught on, I'd not do it either. IF you had a place that was assure no one caught you - hunt. Its absolutely no breach of ethics - the deer don't know its Sunday. Its against the law, certainly, but a stupid, STUPID law and one of many we have in the world today. Remember, laws do NOT make what is and isn't ethical.

besides, if 50,000 hunters took to the field this Sunday ....... what would the G&F do ? Maybe get their act together and reverse that stupid law ?

Yep, would be nice to have a three-day hunting weekend, but ah well, we have to respect our blue laws. I'm a gun hunter, and there's no way I'm going to risk getting a fine and having my gun confiscated to hunt on Sunday (I usually sleep in anyway).

Hey Butch, have any decals you wouldn't mind parting with? I'll send you some compensation. I've been bugging my state reps and senators for a couple of years, but I don't think much will change unless we get the public talking about it and convince them of the stupidity of such an old-fashioned law.

Aught, click on the link on my first post about the decals (the one where I mentioned Chester's website). He can make you a decal real easy. Mine was only $5.95 and shipped right to my door.

I only ordered one though. They are real nice, but you have to be REAL CAREFUL when applying the decal. They stick like super glue! (look closely at mine, and you'll see it slightly crooked. There was no way I could peel it off and try re-centering it again. Once it stuck, that was it... Then I had to press down and rub each vinyl decal image with a wooden spoon (a handle of a screwdriver would work too) to make sure they are applied good. Then I just carefully peeled off the backing, and that was that.

I have been bugging the General Assembly and been to many DGIF meetings too. Sunday hunting is going to happen - when - nobody knows for sure. But from what I have heard (the ol' someone who knows someone, etc...) Sunday hunting will most likely be a joint venture with both VA and NC, since their blue law bans are very similiar and almost date back to the same year. I heard that Sunday hunting will happen, but only opening Sunday of bow, muzzleloader, rifle - and only on private property. Then, if the earth doesn't fall off its axis, or the oceans start to swell, they will allow Sunday hunting on private property - in full. Then, little by little by little, we'll eventually have full fledged Sunday hunting.

Don't quote me... that is just what I heard from a guy who knows a guy who was "behind closed doors in downtown Richmond".

So, Buster, is it okay to blatantly violate any law with which we do not agree? Or just this one?

Good call Buster, Im not fond of the deer bag limits or the fact we cant use spotlights and rifles to hunt deer after dark, I live in an area with 1 warden for the entire county, very little chance of getting caught. Thanks to your inspiration Im gonna go charge up the spotlight and pretend I havent filled my deer tag already.YEEEHAWW
