Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default History Channel

I'm watching the history channel ,their doing a show about Joliet (SP)prison in Illinois.

Its kind of funny listing to these tough guys*Deleted* about how their bed is to hard. Some of them don't like the company they are stuck with. And the fine dinning leaves some unfulfilled.

23000 new ones per year talk about job security

All convicts should be glad that I don't run their prison , I'd stretch the standards quite a bit .

I'd see that standards wouldn't be the only things stretched in there...

I had a buddy that was in Attica. While he was there he got an Associates degree, now they don't offer these types of programs. If your not going to let them get either a job skill or some education, where will they end up?

If judges got back tosentencing people harshly and didn't cut their sentences early, it wouldn't be a problem.

Not everyone, just most. People who want to succeed will do so whether they're educated in prison or not.

So why not let them do it in jail?

Because 1) that's not what they're there for, and 2) it costs a good deal of taxpayer money.

People should not be led to expect a free education for going to prison...

They would most likely qualify for a free education when they get out anyway.

Let them advance themselves through education or learning a trade so that when we drop them off in an Albany bus station with forty bucks they have a marketable skill. It might lower the rectivisman rate alittle. The money spend on prisnors now would pay fora graet education.

The jails are full non violent drug offenders for the most part, I know big buisness is making money off them by having factories in Jails now so they need cheap labor.

Aught, This guy told me he couldn't believe how many inmates couldn't read or write. He volunteered to help them out.
