Ifferd, how many game wardens does the state have on staff? Unless they patrol a LOT more than Tennessee's wildlife officers patrol during the hunting season, the quote about needing to hire 72 additional game wardens for one additional day of hunting is laughable.
Not that I support or oppose Sunday hunting. I hunt on Sundays occasionally, but I wouldn't necessarily shed tears if Tennessee prohibited Sunday hunting.

While we could always hunt on sunday with a bow, we just got more flexible sunday gun hunts incertain areas up here...
You'd love it up here, Ifferd!
Bow hunting, includes crossbow, from Oct 1st to Dec31st.
Rifle, shotgun,is 2nd week and last week in November.
Muzzleloader is second week in December.
Now we are back to bow hunting again. I am out there so much I am forgetting about sleep...!
We've been seeing alot of Coyote/Wolf/Dog Hybrids in our area, picture a bigger blue grey coyote...they're wild looking and becoming a problem I hear...hope to git some...
Also, Fishers are all over the place, 75 bucks a hide so far.
Don't get me started on the turkeys and game birds...hundreds...ever so tender, yum..>!
"We will take our message to the Legislature and tell them the vast majority of North Carolinians don"t want this," said the Rev. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League of North Carolina. "And especially people of faith don"t want it.
.
What does faith have to do with hunting on Sunday that is rediculous. Not hunting on Sunday is an outdated law. Most of us work our tails off all week and can only hunt Saturdays(east coast). There's no good reason why we shouldnt be able to hunt on Sunday. NONE.
If you say religious reasons thats just crap. I guess the people out west just arent as religious as us east coast folks.
I cant hunt on Sunday in WV either and it just burns me up when it comes up for a vote and hear from mostly the older generation that we shouldnt be able to do it. Funny I've never heard 1 good reason why we shouldnt.

The no hunting on sundays is an old age rule made by the church, a by-law I believe.
It's purpose was to keep people home to attend local mass and church social functions. You know, put on the Sunday dud's head to church, spend the day with the Fam.
I believe this evolved into a No Sunday Gun Hunting Rule as time went on.
Now...well as of this year....we can hunt on Sundays...nya nya nya nya nya nyaaaaaaaa[8D]

I'm betting that more people will stay home and watch NFL footbal than attend church functions.
We don't have silly rules like that in Wisconsin. The woods are empty after 11AM on Sundays, because everyone is watching football.
