What I find amusing about this story is an issue about free speech. Europeans who raise any questions about the holocaust or even numbers involved in the holocaust are locked have been and will be locked away for a long time. Iran, notorious for having the reputation of being ruled with an iron fist encourages such dialog and europeans travelled to Iran to discuss their ideas.
My take is that Europeans are idiots (duh). If you supress a form of speech its usually because you fear that there might be some truth to it that may dislodge your world view. European governments only add more credence to the holocaust naysayers point of view by banning the mere discussion of it unless the discussion fits the model of what the government endorses.

I hear ya Briman, it took balls to hold a conference like this to talk about it...you're right it has always been a forbidden subject it seems...this Iranian Leader is full of surprises.
And about the, "Wipe Israel off the map" remark, he doesn't mean with nuclear weapons or military aggression, look at the context in which he has made these statements, he beleives that Hezbollah is going to take over the government in Israel. And, according to him, it will start with the defeat of the U.S. in Iraq. It all seems like a movie, to me.
More tough talk from Iran, if they honestly want to brag about how Israel's days are numbered, then I believe they would have done whatever they brag so much about, already, they are nothing but talk, like the bully at school.
I gathered that Iran's Leader was referring to Israel's Zionist's will decline and eventually fade out by their own doing and that Hezbollah, Hamas etc are just defending themselves...who is the aggressor?

Zionism should be distinguished from Territorialism which was a Jewish nationalist movement calling for a Jewish homeland, but not necessarily in Palestine.
The underlying conflict is over Palestine and it's actualboundaries.
According to the Muslim fundamentalists, Modern day Palestine is but a fraction of the size of what is once was with Israel.
