Winning the war on terror is a lot less complex than most of the pseudo-intellectual pundits would like to admit. The key is to keep killing until there are no enemies left to kill. They run, they hide, we go after them and don't stop until they're dead. Costly, yes, but it's worked throughout history, that is, until politics gets in the way.
Very true. In the specific situation of Iraq, the terrorist led insurgency needs to be treated as such, & fought with unconventional tactics. Eradication of the terror cells & leaders needs to be the focus, & I hope that is part of the "New Direction" that comes from Pres. Bush. I'd also like to see effort in the propaganda side of this conflict; the US & coalition has been woefully inadequate in this, & the story of what the islamic fascists want& are is a story that will resonate!
The biggest problem is trying to fight a war with a camera in your face. It is a tragedy when civilians get caught in the crossfire, but it is a war. No one complained when we were firebombing german cities in WWII, but if one Iraqi civilian gets killed while we are looking for insurgents it makes front page news and people want an investigation done into what happened. I say take the cuffs off our military and let them do their job!!!
