Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default China selling off dollars....OUCH!

Well, it is finally starting. You see, waging two wars and cutting taxes seven times is a stupid idea. Hopefully this won't get too bad, but maybe it will.

Damn. No sooner do those Democrats take power in the election than does the dollar start falling after the Republicans spent five years building a powerful economy. [8D]

I suggest that everyone the feels the tax cuts were wrong immediately send theirs back and refuse to take advantage of any in the future. Wouldn't it be dishonest and hypocritical to keep that money if you felt you recieved it through an act of stupidity, and the country is suffering because you kept it?

Ben, although they act as if they have already taken over, that won't actually happen until January. Amazing how the world has reacted already though. Got a feeling we won't have to worry about being able to keep the money that would have been paid out in taxes too much longer though--they are a lot smarter than we are, and will spend our money more wisely than we could spend it ourselves.

I was merely being facetious. Gas prices have also gone up 5 cents since the Democrats swept to power on November 7.

Bigc, we do know about the government waste. They're being facetious.

Rolling back the tax cuts we regular folk have enjoyed is a tax increase. Not a good way for the dems to endear themselves to the people...

A number of factors, including slower growth and the multibillion-dollar trade deficit, put the American economy in a vulnerable position compared with its global competitors.
At the pace of business in 2006 and beyond we could suffer a great deal because of the vulnerabilities created by the mess, which is directly linked to the war...which once again begs the question...For what? For whom?

The fallout is coming. This is only the beginning. Higher taxes were inevitable prior to the election and linking them to the Dems would be folly.

But I know I will certainly sleep well knowing that Iraq will be brand new when the dust settles. I've always secretly yearned for them to have nice things and a new crew of corrupt leaders.

VC, I don't think for a minute everything is peachy with the war, but what do you do? Sadaam had WMD's--he used them on his own people. Thanks to the media and the U.N., he had plenty of time to dispose or hide them before the invasion.

My point is where do you draw the line? As long as we don't get nuked, all is well? How about Iran? They aren't exactly hiding their intentions, and can be trusted about as much as a starving rotweiller in a meat market. North Korea? Just what do you do here?

I really don't know myself, but I don't think doing nothing is the answer, neither is signing treaties that only buy the dictators more time to keep going along with their plans.

My thoughts are get the media out of Iraq and let the soldiers do their business. Quit tying our soldiers hands behind their backs and expecting them to win a boxing match. There is no nice way to fight a war--you'd think we would have learned that by now. If soldiers instead of politicians were running the show, I think it would have been a done deal some time ago.

As far as blaming the Dems, well.......they've made the claims that they are going to straighten things out, drain the swamp, etc. etc. etc. They took it upon themselves, so if they can't provide who should get the blame? If I take over a job because the customer isn't happy with the past service, then I fail after taking over, is it the fault of the guy I replaced, or is it mine?

Until you work for them, you won't see it. I was rolling thru Fort Meade, and couldn't believe the waste from the projects they were working on.

Right now, the US Gov. has enought bandwidth country wide to compete with Sprint. We did an analysis, they have no need for 1/100th the bandwidth they installed. But hey, I will not complain too much about that. What worrys me is this is the tip of the iceberg. In the MD-DC area, they spend millions on stupid research projects that are inconclusive and performed mainly by foriegn nationals. I have a friend who is a marine biologist, and his only job is catching stripers year around. He even admits, his data really doesn't produce much, but he ain't complaining.

Chad, as I've said before, the mess was created by lack of planning and a lack of funding and manpower by our allies. Additionally our goals were unclear. In my opinion, they are still unclear. Recently for example, we couldn't reach an accord on this board as to what constitutes "winning."

If we couldn't deal with the secular violence or civil war or whatever we want to call it, we should have held back until we could.

The irony of pouring our wealth into one of the planets oil-rich nations in 2006 is obvious.

Iraq specifically, and not the balance of the so-called war on terror, is in my opinion, not worthy of the lives, the blood, or the money.
