Unintended consequences and God have one thing in common: Liberals don’t believe in either of them.
Wild ain't it? Up until I was in the 9th grade, guys showed off their guns to each other in the parking lot. Teachers asked to borrow pocket knives. Principal sent students to the store just down the road topick up a pack of smokes for him. Guys (and sometimes gals) got in fights, and even though both carried a knife neither of them pulled it out even when they were getting their butt kicked. If it was obviously a case of bullying, the bully got his butt whipped if he won the fight, or if he lost it was considered "good enough for him". If it couldn't be decided who started it, both got their butts whipped. Fights behind the school, field house, etc. where teachers didn't see it going on rarely got brought up. Fireworks were allowed for HS kids, as long as they cleaned up the mess and kept them on the football field. Ag class consisted of going to the Ag teachers farm (less than 1/4 mile from the school, through the woods) where we wormed cows and horses, hauled hay, tore down and rebuilt barns, etc.
Unfortunately our principal retired after my 9th grade year. The new principal started out by outlawing dang near everything, including dissolving the football program (that was in '85, and today that school still doesn't offer football). Basketball is ok--the running joke here is you go to that school to play school and learn basketball. There's a gate on the road now. The parking lot is moved waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy down near where the football field used to be. I reckon everything that is outlawed in big city schools is also outlawed there--so much for living in the country.
I know of a few kids that didn't turn out too well from there, but there's also been some professionals come from there. None of us turned out to be mass murderers or serial killers. I still tote a pocket knife, and still haven't used it on anyone. It's sad how much has changed in 25 years.

How true....we used to stand across the street and smoke cigs and whatever, then a teacher or the principal would yell at us breaks over get back to class,no big deal.
Sin,Sex,Whisky and Wine, were from the class of 79........
They never let us put that in the yr book.we used to show up at school with our duck hunting vests on with shells still in them and hag them in our lockers..from the morrning hunt, then head out after school.....
A lot has changed in the measly 9 yrs I've been out. A LOT!!!!!
Biggest thing--girls certainly don't look like they did when I was there! [] I know I'm still considered a "young-un" on here, but times HAVE changed a lot in just the last few years.Don't know much about the last 30 or so.

I'm dealing with some of those issues right now with my kid in school. What a stupid world we live in. Kids will fight from time to time. Now, they don't care who started it, they just punish the winner. Complete opposite from when I went to school.
I'm seriously thinking about homeschool. That way if they fight, I can just referee betweent my boys!
