Default McDonald's CEO: Healthier French Fry Oil Closer

CHICAGO"” McDonald's Corp. (MCD) Chief Executive Jim Skinner said Wednesday the fast-food chain is making "very good progress" toward developing a healthier oil for french fries cooked in its U.S. restaurants but still would not give a timetable for when a switch will be made.

Four years after the company first pledged to significantly reduce the trans fats levels in its signature fries, Skinner told an investor conference that the company continues to work hard on a new oil.

He said that if New York passes a proposed ordinance making it the first U.S. city to ban eateries from serving food containing trans fat, McDonald's will be ready to comply.

.....this is awesome news for us fast food junkies !!!

how about using NATURAL oils to fry with, like bacon grease or hog lard ? Those are fine for the body ........ when you maufacture un-natural chemical laden based oils ....... nothing good will ever come from it

You'll still get just as fat! But some health issues may be avoided with people eating less trans fat. I just know that some people are totally ignorant, and will believe that all of a sudden, fried food at McD's is low calorie, healthy stuff...[&:]

Bunch of crap. I can hardlyeat out anymore because so many places have changed their recipes in the name of helping larda$$es not gain weight from their binge eating. Fast food tastes like garbage nowadays.

Obviously McDonald's is just trying to meet the demands of their overweight and/or "healthy eating" clientele, but they'll lose me once they start selling fries that taste like cardboard.

"Healthier French Fry Oil"

Isnt' that an oxymoron of sorts?

Processed oils are nothing but trouble. Stick with the virgin pressed olive oil and you'll be all right.

Oh, I just have another idea on this, uh, oh, watch out...

Lawyers are going to view this switch in cooking oil as an admission by McD's that their previous oil was hazardous. Thus, they will open a whole slew of law suits against McDonalds on behalf of all the many "victims" of trans-fats...[][:'(]
