Dallas suburb cracks down on illegal immigrants

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas (AP) -- This Dallas suburb became the first Texas city to pass tough anti-immigration measures, prompting fears of sanctioned discrimination and racism.

City Council members unanimously approved fines for landlords who rent to illegal immigrants, making English the city's official language and allowing local authorities to screen suspects in police custody to check their immigration status.

I'm about 20 miles away from Farmers Branch TX.
I didn't clicky on the link but do know this has been
in the works for several months. From what I'm told,
FB is having problems attracting new business and
residence due to a VERY large (and growing) population
of illegal aliens. As you might imagine, there are very heated
debates and marches/protests.The news clips can be very
entertaining (in a civic duty type way) to watch on the
local newcasts. Keep an eye on this, it could set some
precedencefor your community.
