Default Why the witch hunt in Tillman's death?

Here is another storyabout a new investigation into Pat Tillman's death.

I don't get the media frenzy involving this case. Tillman was killed by friendlyfire, something that is a simple fact of war.And unless you can prove a friendly fire incident was actually premeditated murder or over the top blatant recklessness, I don't think soldiers should ever be prosecuted forit.

BAsically it looks like there are four Army Rangers that are going to wind up getting railroaded over this and the primary reason seems to be that Tillman was famous. Which is patentely ridiculous - Tillman's death was no more or less important than the death of the 19 year old private from Swampscott, MA last month, but I doubt anyone will throw up athree year investigation over his death.

Granted, the military wasn't particularly forthcoming about the circumstances surrounding Tillman's death, but giventhe reactionwhen the news got out that he died from friendly fire, I'd say they were spot on in their prediction of what kind of reaction they would get.

Basically he was famous and the military used this as a recruiting tool.

Second if this was not premeditated murder why the cover up ,why the burning of his clothes.

Later the same day his commander was also shoot by the same men!

There are some things that need answered!

I don't know - maybe there is more to it. But given the press that was given to Tillman from the time he joined until the incident, I can't say I would blame them for covering up what might have been simple friendly fire. they probably knew they were in deep ****, so they panicked and attempted to destroy any evidence that might harm them.

I don't know - pre-meditated murder of the one guy in Iraq that you know would be investigated seriously?

I wasn't there, so I don't know what happened and I doubt we ever will, but I can't help feeling this is an extension of his fame.

He's an Army Ranger, and Rangers get special attention. They're like second to the Navy SEALS. If a SEAL dies, than I bet they investigate it.

He's hardly the first Army Ranger to die in this conflict. And I expect there to be an investigation whenever there is a question of whether or not someone died by friendly fire, if only to learn from the mistakes. However, the attention and the manpower this investigaton goes well beyond what it would have if Tillman weren't famous.

It sells papers, magazines and TV news viewership.

That's mainly what I am concerned with because it seems like there are at least four soldiers who are going to take a fall for this regardless of whether they have really done anything wrong.
