Hopefully, she willbe less tolerant than Dennis Hastert wasof behavior exhibited by the likes of Foley, Cunningham, Ney and a number of other GOPcongressmen. She did come down hard on Jefferson of Lousiana when it was clear he was involved in some sort of corrupt dealing. If she makes it clear that the kind of behavior that Hastart ignored willnot be tolerated by her it would go a long way towards restoring the image of the Congress as a whole.

Restoring the image of politicians? Boy, thats going to be a stretch. I am just worried she will push her progressive san fran ideals on the whole US.
I tried my hand at politics recently and had my rear handed to me. A trumped up "scandal" ruined me. I ran with a party who had always been strong in our county, but we have a lot of "big city" "Dallasites" who own million dollar homes at the lake in our county. I think politics, in general, is full of underhanded people ready and willing to destroy any and everybody in their way (or their party or their special interest's way). Democrat, republican, libertarian - whatever - there will always be somebody present to push their interests and get whatever they can. I have learned something, however. These dastardly deeds have already come back and bitten some of those pushing the special interests and self-serving ideas. Everybody's in it for something - GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN A POLITICIAN HAS GENUINE INTEREST IN THE PEOPLE HE/SHE'S TRYING TO GET VOTES FROM.
Just my personal observations - not necessarily from a disgruntled loser...
For everything being said about Pelosi, last night there was talk of her being too conservative for San Fran(although that ain't sayin much.)
She has promised to run an honest, open and ethical Congress and I think she will. She has no choice. Corruption ran the Republicans from a majority to a minority. It's impossible for her to miss that.
