Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default random morning after thoughts

to those who lost: go out in public, smile, and act like you don't care.

to those who won: don't dance in the endzone. ever.

and if the dang rain would stop, maybe i can finally go hunting today.

Its interesting. I wondered how I feel if I woke up this morning and the GOP had lost both the House and the Senate. Its looking like it'll go that way.

As a conservative, I don't think anything will change. Bush and a Republican Congress had an opportunity to show what good can happen with a real conservative agenda and they didn't do jack with it. They could have forced responsible spending, real immigration reform, real energy policy, etc and they didn't.

So, no good change comes from the GOP being in power for six years and the conservatives take it on the chin.

That pretty much covers it!

It was really hard to stand behind the Republicans failed ways.

Bill Clintons governing by the polls offened many but Wya's refusal to changedirectionsduring storms has proven to be his down fall!

Trade polices that destroyed American jobs for our middle class ,hurt them much more than the war in Iraq!

I was going to start a new thread and gloat about the win, but I decided that wouldn't be very gentleman-like. Instead, I decided I should just remind people of all the times I've been told that criticizing our leadership and second guessing them in this time of war is basically akin to giving aid to the enemy. So just remember that.

Also, do you think the impeachment will go really quickly with Bush admitting he hates the Constitution and is a big liar, or will it be a slower, more drawn out process?

I'm just kidding - the dems don't have the senate. Yet.

Agreed!

However, I feel the Reps will keep the Senate--barely.

Of course we barely make it until dawn before the word "impeachment" is mentioned. Heck, at least it went unspoken that long. I'm sure Pelosi, Kennedy, et al, were thinking it as soon as the favorable vote returns started to come in.

The Democrats get power and what's the first thing they want to do? Not tackle issues of jobs, healthcare, etc. They want to get started with baseless impeachment proceedings in their efforts for retaliation because of what the Republicans did to Clinton. Their #1 priority is exacting revenge. Oh, but they were going to make America better.

i'm extraordinarily torn on the issue, Ben. help me out.

On the one hand, impeachment will do nothing to move opur country forward. revenge for what they did to Bill is not high on my priority list-the best revenge is governing well.

on the other hand, there is precedent. we spent 50 plus million dollars on a blatantly political witch-hunt to discover a presidential BJ. are not the allegations against Bush more serious than the former, and should they not be investigated? The Rs set the benchmark here.

on the balance, i lean towards "impeachment accomplishes nothing-govern well." i am however, conflicted on the issue.

Somehow I dont think things will be all that different,

We will still be at war

There will just be new scandals to criticize

The borders will still resemble a screen door

Crime and taxes will still exist

Gays will still be gay

library books will remain overdue and the crock hunter will still be dead

And most importantly, nobody in Washington will be able to agree on anything anyway.Anyone watch South park last night? Its tough to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich

OK so now what. It looks like the balance of power has changed. My prediction will be that Rummy will be gone shortly as a desperate measure by W and "the party" to placate the dissatisfied public. 2008 is closer than ever and now that the worst scenario, from a GOP perspective, has occurred the red party needs to conduct some damage control and get ready for the next fight. Without an end to the war there will be aDem president in office next term. In order to gain political momentum the GOP needs to accomplish this sometime during 2007 or at worst early 2008. Time is running short and getting Rumsfeld out of the office will be the first step with a firm timeframe for a power transfer from us to Iraq next. The loss of power after all this time and the war in Iraq will be the anchor that hangs over Bush's presidency. The people have spoken and change is demanded. Today"™s news conference from the White House should prove interesting.
