Default Gun control

So, supposing the Democrats make important congressional inroads, what do you think the repercussions may be for gun owners? I'm curious.

I sort of think that maybe the Democrats have been burned in the past by picking up the gun control issue. I wonder if they will have better sense than to go down the path of trying to pass a bunch of anti-gun legislation: ban assault rifles, institute longer waiting periods, place a limit on how many guns you can buy per month, etc. Don't they have plenty of other less dangerous issues they can grandstand about and use to curry public approval?

Notwithstanding, I'm not taking any chances and not voting for any Democrats. I'm just curious about whether they really buy into that gun control stuff any more. Sure the liberals from Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, and California are still true believers. But how about the folks from other less liberal places: are they still drinking the gun control water?

The dummycraps are predictable , if nothing else , they'll be stupid enough to go after guns if they get some strength in Congress just like they did during the Klintoon administration . I don't take chances either , I never vote for them , better the devil(s) you know .

Somehow, boxer, finestien, clinton, and schumerare loud voices to be reckon'd with. Its not dead to them. Alot of good legistlation has been pass'd that protects the gun companies, but alot of loopholes for these anti's to take advantage of. I dont' know where they got thier hard on about this issue. But chances are we will have a democrat president in 08, and with a democrat controlled house or senate, gun owners will be attacked again.

The liberals in charge of the Democratic party haven't given up on gun control, like they haven't given up on a lot of other issues that continue to cost them election after election.

What drives me insane is we have had some decent candidates running for some of the smaller local offices as Democrats, yet they can't win an election because the state and national leaders nominate high profile liberals that scare people away from the entire party.[:@]

I'm convinced the Democrats have gone deaf. Opportunity has been knocking, they just don't hear it. Republicans victories have had as much or more to do with Republicans being able to position themselves as the lesser of two evils than with the policies and values of the Republicans themselves. Republicans would be in huge trouble, (bigger than they are now) if the democrats would transform themselves to drop a few liberal issues. One is abortion, another is gun control, another is homosexual marriages. Those three would easily buy them red and blue states.I don't believe all dems or even a majority of democrats are for these three issues either. Like Ky for instance, all dems get a A rating from NRA. Alot from PA either.

Till 08, it doesn't matter what the dems do in the house or senate. Our guns are only as safe as GW Bush. A known supporter of the Brady Bill and the AWB.

Any anti-gun legislation before 08 will have his signature or his veto.

I'm suspicious he has lost his VETO stamp. I think he threw it away because he doesn't believe speaking Latin is patriotic - speak English or get out ya know???

I doubt we'll see anything as aggressive as the Crime Bill in 1994 - certainly not until Obama becomes president in 2008. Even then I don't know if the Dems will try that again - it was a pretty hot button issue in a year that they lost both the house and the senate.

The Democrats are definitely playing to the middle in this election (as are all candidates). I don't think you will see any major push for more gun control. The national party leaders have to realize that moderate Democrats are the ones that might put them back in power. Red state Democrats, hopefully, will have more clout within the party, if today's electionfavors the Democrats.
