Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Predictions for Tomorrow's Election???

I've been hearing a lot of predictions for tomorrow's national election results. Many people were originally predicting the Dems would win control of the House and Senate. Then people began predicting the Reps would retain control of the Senate and the Dems would gain control of the House. Although I really don't want to have to hear that windbag Pelosi anymore thyan I already do, I'm wondering what everybody here predicts for election results tomorrow and how you think that will change things.

For the record, I think the Reps will retain control of the Senate but will still have less than 60 votes (read seats) needed to override filibusters and get all of the legislation passed that they would like. I think either the Reps or Dems will have control of the House by only a few votes and will also be in a position of having to pass compromise legislation within the House, let alone the Senate.

Bottom line, the people who are claiming the Dems are going to pass an ambitious 100 days worth of legislation are showboating and don't really have any plans for fixing anything. What does everybody else think??

I have no idea what will happen nationally but with both my Congresswoman, Doris Matsui, and U.S. Senator, Diane Fienstien, running for re-election un-opposed I know my represention in Washington will not be changing.

I think the Dems are going to take the house but not the Senate. As Cal pointed, I doubt anyone will have a large enough majority in either chamber to run through much legislation.

The upside is that any legislation being pushed through will have to be very even tempered because it will likely need to pass a Democratic house and a Republican senate followed by going to Bush's desk.

If any of you guys have taken Electrical Engineering courses or Physics, you might know what process control systems is all about. Bascially, the idea is if you have a combination of two stable systems, you get an unstable system, and if you have two equally unstable systems, you have a stable system as a result.

You always here control Instructors laugh and explain thats what congress and senate is about.

Well, I have lived to see and believe it. I believe its a bad thing having both the senate and the congress totally controlled by one or the other. President really doesnt' bother me much, they can push pressure on him to veto or not to veto.

I won't mind seeing it split again.

I really don't know in the House, but my gut feeling is that the Republicans maintain control, albeit by a slimmer margin.

I don't think the Democrats can get the Senate, either. In the last few days, the momentum in the Tennessee race has swung back in favor of Bob Corker. Without Tennessee, I don't think the Dems have a shot of getting power in the Senate.

I think that, overall, this is going to be a very disappointing election for Democrats. They'll make some gains, but they'll come out of tomorrow just as they enter it: Without control.

I really don't know, but if I had to guess I'd agree with you Cal. Seems that we're going to have a Congress that won't get anything done for fussing, or a Congress that will be forced to work together. Sadly, my guess is the former will be the outcome.

Reckon when the '08 smears.....I mean commercials will start running?

Frank I think you are right on this one and I think I just figured out why,

I think as Americans we hate this warfor the same reasons as Americans hate soccer. It has lasted to long and no ones winning.

You heard no bitchen when the Marines were kicken butt & takin names.
Now as time passes and our troops are seen as no more than targets for I.E.D.'s we either need to go back to kickin butt or come home!

All I know is that we won't have to listen to political BS for a short time until they start going for the 2008 election. Regardless of who prevails, I don't expect things to change much if any. Its all Republicrats anymore.
