I know the the phrase Cut and Run is a favorite talking point of the republican party. So I have a question for everyone. Not just the republicans. And it is a serious question, so instead of the partisan cheap shots often taken, lets be honest about a resoulution.
At what point does does it become pointless to continue to keep our troops in Iraq?
If the violance continues, and the people do not embrace a democratic government, how long do we stay? Forever?
I ask this in all honesty, although we are not losing the troops we lost in Nam, the lack of support for what the US is doing for them, is growing. And even if you believe this is still an obtainable goal ( Democratic Iraq ), will we recognise it when it reaches a point that our best efforts are going to go unrewarded?
Do we stay indefinately? Regardless of the support we recieve from the Iraqi Gov. and regardless of the will of their people?
Or does there come a point when you do in fact, ( Cut and Run ), or as it will be spun, phased withdraw?
If the current regime in Iraq continues to make decisions that hamper the effort to stabilize the country. i.e. the recent order that roadblocks be removed.
I think it is already apparent that we are never going to create a stabil democratic government in Iraq. In all honesty, I would not spend another day there.
People can call it cut and run or just plain yellow - whatver makes the right feel better they can call it as long as it takes our soldiers out of harm's way.

We should cut and run right after we win. There really is no other way out. We don't dare pull another Viet Naum bail out. If we do we better just stay home in the future because we will have no credability what so ever in the future.
I don't think we have any credibility now, except possibly with England.
Depends what you think of as credibility. I think of it as you say what you do, you do what you say, you don't back down, and don't waive empty threats. Obviously your definition is quite different that most.
You make a UN resolution, you stick to it, you try sanctions, that doesnt' work, you go further. Even Saddam didn't think we were really going to invade according to transscripts. He thought it was typical bullcrap. Yea, he was wrong. Maybe if we didn't, N. Korea would be a more volitile situation, or maybe next time we warn, it will be taken seriously.
