Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Hunting season

OK - I know I don't fit in as well as others here because I have pretty liberal views, but I don't come here just because I like to argue - I come here because I'm a hunter. And I know this isn't the best forum, but how is everyone's season going?

I've been out only one day because work and school have been crazy. My dad has tagged out already, but I won't get back to the woods for two weeks. I have 5 kids, so it's tough to find time, but my oldest boy is 11 years old and on his second year in the woods with a gun - two weekends ago he got a chance to take a little skipper in Maine, but he missed the shot. Still, he was excited to have had the chance - hunting with his dad using a gun his grandfather shot his first deer with. It was exciting even if we are still low on venison.

I wouldn't worry about "fitting in" here because of liberal views SB. many people here are somewhat independent thinkers and often have differing views. If you put forth a well reasoned argument that is based on facts, personal experience or other rational thoughts, most people will accept you even if they have a different viewpoint. The people who don't fit in so well are those who insult others, always feel like everybody is picking on them and basically dish it out but can't take it. There are some liberals on here who are true gentlemen and who I would be honored to campaign against in a political race because I know they are standup guys. Then there are others on here who always make me wonder about their age.

As for hunting season (the important stuff), I got to go antelope hunting in august and got a nice buck (14.25"). I've been too busy with politics and family to go deer hunting. Hopefully next year I can hunt out of state. I think it's great that you gert to hunt with your boy. Treasure that and enjoy every minute cause it's something special. Good luck and hope you guys tag out.

get bent. nyners, nyners, nyners!

liberals, independents, and criticalthinkers will be shunned.

seriously though, kids are what it's all about SB. I've had a hard time getting out too (broke two ribs opening day bow, and i couldn't draw till this morning). the election season keeps me hopping too.

I did get my 12 year old out duringin-line season. he jumped three, moving fast through underbrush, but didn't take the shot. told me he didn't feel he had a clear, safebead on them. i was never so proud of a boy for not taking a shot.

i handed in my resignation to my current employer on thursday, effective the end of the year, so i plan on burning a lot of vacation hunting between now and then. still got a little bow season left.

Sounds like you're a 49'er fan. Also, I figure you know who I was speaking about in campaigns.

Is there anybody in the Politics forum that does fit in?

My hunting season has hit a lull since school started back. I haven't made it out in a couple of weeks, and probably won't see much action until Thanksgiving. I will be conviently located next to prime hunting ground next weekend, but my sister's wedding may interfere with my hunting. Silly people, don't they realize weddings are for spring, when deer are not in season and CFB is not on t.v.?

I hope you have a good backup. And I hope that backup doesn't include chasing ambulances in the Texas Panhandle area (territory already taken).

God, feel like we can almost phone this one in. Gubernatorial, 20 points, Senate, 11. the local house seat will stay with the incumbent R, but that's ok. he's a decent guy and a friend.

don't worry Tex. i wouldn't cut in on your turf. i hope to never walk into a courtroom again.

i've thought long and hard about the career move. i've been a lawyer, lawyer/politician, lawyer/bureaucrat, and lawyer/campaign strategist. what should the next progression be? then it hit me. a position so vile, so base, so repugnant, so fundamentally wrong that small children will flee at the sight of me, dogs will howl when they scent me, and cows will miscarry in my presence. effective January 3, i will be (insert evil laughter here)

a lawyer/lobbyist

be afraid

I just completed a fun filled trip to Colorado for elk and was successful. Our deer season starts Saturday and then I will be going to Ohio for their shotgun season.
