I'm posting this here because I think it's more political than anything else. My son is ADHD as some of you here may know from previouse posts, and the problems we have been haveing with the school and their unwilling to do whats right for Brandon, Well thursday absoulutely takes the cake! At the begining of science class the teacher has several words written on the board for the kids to find definitions on or come up with their own while kids are still coming in. My son loves science and likes to particpate in class. So he's working dilegently. When class starts, she askes if any have defintions for "Radiation"? Brandon raises his hand and she call on him, and he replies with "It comes from Nueclear Power Plants and Atomic Weapons" She imediately tells him to get out of the room and fill out a think sheet before he can come back. Needless to say, my son was in tears because he has no clue what he has done. When he gets home and tells me, I quiz him on was there anything he could have done, etc. etc, to cause this, and he assurs me not. I'm so steaming mad at these worthless f**king teachers! You know, I can understand if he was interupting the class and being disruptive, but he was trying to participate, and so what if his answer isn't exactly what she wanted, she could have stated that wasn't what she was looking for, but can you think of something else! Butttt Nooooooo! These mindless, incapableexcusses for teachers couldn't see an oppertunity to teach a child with ADHD if stuck a fish hook in their eyelid and hung a sign from it! I soooo frying mad at this school system, I kept Brandon out of school yesterday, I plan on keeping out of school next week too. I called the state board of exducation, & they say I have to work it out with the school, that's crap! the government won't even step in to help, What the hell happened to "No Child Left Behind"! I've been dealing with this piece of SH!T school now for over 2 years, and still I can't get them to do whats right for Brandon. Talking with the state, saying I got work it out with the school makes me even madder,HE!!, He be done and out of school by the time they get around to doing anything, talk about politics! I can honestly understand why some students go the extreme and go to school with an AK47 and clean up on the facilty! Lord only knows, this school sure could use some cleaning up! Sorry, I really had to vent! But this schools admin, and their teachers are absoulutely worthless excusess for human beings!

You are just acting on one side of the story. Not a good practice.

This is an incident between your son and one teacher, and you are blaming all teachers.

I've never heard of such extremes because of a student being asked to step out of class.
You should deal with the teacher and principle. Npt bearocrats, miles away who know nothing of the situation.

If you "deal" with the school in the way you posted this message, no wonder they don't want to work with you.

Yeah, that'll show 'em. Screw your kid's progress up by making him get hopelessly behind. Stick it to the man!!!

You mean all he had to do was fill out a sheet of paper to get back in? No seeing the principal, no detention, no in school suspension???? Not something I'd call the state over, especially if I only knew half the story.

Looks like a good honest answer to me. You really believe that got him kicked out? If it is that innocent, wouldn't discussing it on the "think sheet" have helped to clear it up?

I actually felt for you a little until I got to this part. You are scarey. I think there might be more problems in your situation that just some ADHD.
RE: My son got kicked out of class again thursday!
Tough lesson in life for you and your son. Sometimes life isn't fair. Sometimes you got to take up the slack for worthless people.Sometimes you got to eat thecrap, sometimes you got to give it.I hear constantly in my company the folks from Manufacturing telling me, its not thier job, or reason why they won't step up to the plate and take the hit. But they are so clueless why they don't get the raise or promotion. Always going to be problems in life or obstacles in his path. If you stop your son everytime and demand that the obstacle is removed because its not your fault, and it shouldn't be there in the first place, he will never learn that the easiest way is to hurdle the obstacle, cause life isn't fair.
Tell your son to be the better man, do the freaking think sheet, get back in class, and pick up where he left off. I know I would never handicap my child 2 full weeks of school. In the end, he is the one getting hurt. Just to prove a point.

Thanks for your concern, but if you haven't read any past posts of mine on this, you don't know half the frustration I've been thru'

I'm acting on my son's honesty, when he was assaulted at school, by a larger black kid, who claimed Brandon called him the N work, Brandon's principle follwed up with interviews and found out he was telling the truth, like he has always with us, Everytime!

This isn't the only teacher, he has several that won't do right by him, His math teacher says, & I quote, "He chooses to be this way" Another teacher refuses to pronounce his last name correctly, and when Brandon tries to correct him, he turns his back on Brandon, throws up and arm and hand and says, & I quote, "Whatever". Both have been investigated by the principle, found it was the truth, and the teachers still stand by what they did. No Problem there with the staff don't you think?

I found out later, last night to be exact,by Brandons classmate, that several other students were asked to leave the classroom because they did not answer the questions correctly. What kind of example does this set for our students, answer a question wrong, and zip, your outta here, great teaching there!

No I havn't dealt with the school in this manner, but maybe I should, maybe they will understand and get the picture, I'm tired of trying, and talking, and nothing happening. I've been polite and so has my wife, she is in tears over this, and I refuse to talk anymore, talking hasn't done any good so far, because the same things still keep happening.

Remember, it was the school that kicked him out, not me, I want him in school, but if they do it again, like they have in the past, he isn't getting any education in school either!

Sorry on this one, my kid did nothing wrong, therefor I will back him to the end, sorry, he will not fill any such thing out. I feel it's the teacher that needs to fill one out, remember, Brandon was given an effort, may not have been 100% right, but he was right, radiation does come from Neuclear Plants, and bombs.

again, see above, My son does not lie! We have taught him the word of the lord, and not telling the truth is wrong and sinful. I will always back him on that, the teacher needs to filll this one out.

I wouldn't never do such a thing, nor would I condoan it, it is merely the understanding of feelings of frustration that I understand some kids have in school. That, after trying all the avenues and guidelines, the ones that are there for them, turn their backs on them and don't care, and neither does the state.
Good luck, though.
I am not an angry man, I am a peacful loving man that cares very much for his children, I am simple, You ask me to do something, I'll do it. But when you tell me something you will do for me or my familily, and don't, and turn your back on me, Then yes, I get angry, especially when it happens time and time again, year after year, teacher after teacher. One other note, I have talked with several of the neighborhood parents, I'm pleased to know I am not alone with the frustrations of the school, whats that tell ya? It tells me there are alot of us who want the best education that our kids can get in a public school, unfortunately, it also tells me that the school doesn't think and the same lines as us concerned parents. And you might say, " Then why don't you go to the school board and talk to them?" Some of us have, remember though, it's the school board who hired these people!

That would be overkill (pun intended).
Seriously Scott, you're missing some amazing opportunities here to teach your son, the teacher, principal and yourself some valuable lessons in life.
1. Meet with the teacher and find out exactly what his/her version of events is and what it takes to get your son back in the class and participating productively. There may be some things you don't know about and the teacher is not clearly communicating to you or your son. Teachers often don't explain such issues in the proper detail which leads to these types of problems.
2. Meet with the principal, explain your frustration and see if you can be allowed to observe the class for a week with your son in class. This will address these issues with the principal, give you a chance to see what is really happening in the classroom and subtly let the teacher know that you are one of those parents who really does take an interest and will follow through (i.e. he/she should not screw with your kid cause you will follow up on it).
3. Perhaps you and your son should do an extra credit science report on where radiation does come from. You know, the sun, etc. and detail/document all of the places that radiation does come from. See if you live close to an appropriate science facility and interview an expert, etc. You get the idea. You have a chance for your son to excel, you to spend some quality time with your son while teaching him and for your son to show the teacher that he's really not a dummy and can follow through on things. Who knows? The teacher might learn something also.
If the above suggestions seem trivial or ill advised, you could always take an old picture of your son to the newspaper, claim he got hives from the experience and threaten to stick him in a private school. I hear that's really effective down in Texas and it can even be used for political purposes.[8D]

I have read some Mastevt. I feel for you. Keep your head up, and remember, teachers are like boss's, sooner or later, you'll get a new one. Pray it works our for you and your family.
RE: My son got kicked out of class again thursday!
Not all kids do well in public schools. Although all 4 more my kids are really good college students, one struggled terribly in high school. We finally pulled him out and put him in alternative high school. He turned it around and was much better for it. I honestly don't know what all Mo has to offer, but check to see what else is out there at his grade level. ADHD is a diagnosis that is common to over-used. If you can get him to sit still for an eval at an outside source, it may be informative. As far as "no child left behind" goes, there was no additional money to go with the new requirements, so some schools struggle, and some will lose the funds. Hang in there.

RE: My son got kicked out of class again thursday!
I liked reading your second post much more that your first. From the perspective of someone who doesn't know you, that first one is very extreme. I said some stuff in mine that could have really pushed your buttons, and you didn't loose it with me, which tells me you are being a more objective person than you first post revealed.
Now, there's just two things I'm going to stick with, just because I think these are the areas where you, as a father, need to be cautious:
1. The "my son doesn't lie" thing ... if you knew how many times I've heard that.... ugh! All kids are capable of lying. The Pope lied as a kid. My dear, sweet grandmother lied as a child... I know you love and trust your son. But don't ever be convinced that he doesn't lie to you.
2. The keeping him home for a wek thing. That will be very tough for him and his grades. You may be making his life harder, and you may be setting a precident by which he willdeal with life's problems in the future. Rethink that, please.
Best of luck to you on however you decide to handle it.
RE: My son got kicked out of class again thursday!
I've had some problems with teachers at some of my son's schools. I've found the best way to deal with it is have a meeting with the teacher and the principal. When they begin to blow you off get ugly with them and make them never forget your name. I almost went over the table after a 250lb butch lesbian that pushed my kid in school then lied about it. I told her she should thank God I didn't see her touch my son. She was never a problem again. Sometimes you just need to get ugly and drop the F bomb a few times and put the fear of God into them. If you don't want to help kids why be a teacher. They label kids with ADHD and want you to drug them up like zombies so they don't bother anyone. Some teachers are just in it for a paycheck, others do a great job. Your son's teacher sounds like sounds like she doesn't want to make any effort to help your son.
