Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

ex-senator and highly decorated war vet. lost a bunch of body parts fighting for his country. lost an election, in part, because his opponent labelled him "unpatriotic". guess the patriotic body parts were the ones that were blown off.

Why does he get CNN air time with Wolf "I'm a weenie" Blitzer now? Is he in the race?

Which war was he in ? Is he unpatriotic?

Forgive me for not knowing the history behind it but what was the other part of the reason he lost an election?

good time for a good question, CB, since there's a discussion of misleading campaign ads on other threads.

Max Cleland Served in Nam, where he was awarded both the Bronze and Silver Star. A grenade took his legs and one arm.

As a U.S. Senator, Cleland supported the creation of the Department of Homeland Security before the President did. Nonetheless, he voted against a version of the Bill because it denied civil service protections to employees of that Department. Ultimately he supported the Bill.

Annegative ad by his opponent in '02 attacked his failure to vote with the President, andtransposed Cleland's face over Hussein's. it was vile. he lost the election.

Since then, he has been a frequent critic of the President, and just as frequently attacked by the likes of Limbaugh and Coulter for not being a "real" war hero. guess in their book, you gotta lose all 4 limbs to be a hero, three just don't cut it.

since we're educating cross the border here, what's going on with some cabinet member up there calling an MP a "dog"? Ill-advised, but funny stuff.

so the mud slinging gets worse there too?

Here's the story about the "dog" comment: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2006/10/20/mackay-stronach.html

Liberal MP Belinda Stronach has demanded an apology from Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay following allegations he referred to her as a dog in the House of Commons.

the comment was allegedly made during question period in the House on Thursday. Question Period turns into a school game of he said she said, rabble rousing and childish blame games...it's pathetic but it's a carry over from the British colony days and has lost it's decorum ( civility )...

Belinda and Peter used to be an item and there is bitterness still between them...If you recall, Peter was visited recently by Condi Rice out on the east coast., and the media teased them both about it.

Back to the Cleland issue, the negative ad's are terrible. Does anyone have a copy of that ad? Is this why Cleland comes across as bitter?

ORIGINAL: Ifferd

Max Cleland hates America and her troops, just like everyone who differs with Bush.

He also gives "aide and comfort" to the enemy and is guilty of treason.

To fight sarcasm with sarcasm ...

Cleland is in the news because he supports Murtha in his campaign. As you know, being a veteran makes you all knowing in any issue involving foreign poklicy and war. You opinions are 100% right, and should not be questioned. If you served bravely at any point in your life, then you are untouchable for the rest of your political career.[8D]
