Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

"If the U.S. makes a concession to some degree, we will also make a concession to some degree, whether it be bilateral talks or six-party talks,"

I really find this quote amusing. U.S. make concessions, Kinda like what Clinton did when he gave them money, fuel, and food to not make a nuc. Weapon. I can only take this as granstanding.[:'(]

I think what Kim Jong Il regrets is how badly he miscalculated China's response to the nuclear test. The Chinese government told him in no uncertain terms not to test a nuclear weapon and he did it anyways. The Chinese leadership is understandably furious over this act of open defiance.

As China tries to move its status from a regional power to a world power it can not tolerate North Korea, a country that China shares a border with and that depends on China for food and energy, completely ignoring its wisheson such a critical issue. I am sure the public actions that China is taking against North Korea are only the tip of the iceberg of what the Chinese are doing to get North Korea back in line.

I used to think that behind the bufoonery Kim was actually a shrewd man. I now am convinced he is a fool for not anticipating how China, his main benefactor, would react to such an open act of defiance.

I doubt that he really cares. He will continue to stay supplied with cognac, movies out of the west and porn so he is good to go and now he is a member of the big boy's nuke club. Small man syndrome.
