Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Most important Amendment?

Several threads have touched here and there on this subject but as far as I can tell, the question hasn't been addressed directly. Ifferd's recent comment that the imaginary gun control push is nothing more than propaganda to persuade voters to sheepishly punch a straight party ticket got me thinking, what is the most important Amendment to our Constitution?

Sure, our rights and freedoms are set up to support one another, but what holds it all together?

Number 2. Without that one, what stands in the way of them taking the remainder?

Your kidding right? You really think you can fight big brother.

Without all of them you will have none.

We didn't include a right to bear arms in Iraq's constitution what will happen over there.

They are all important enough that the loss of one can lead to the loss of the rest.

Shooter, What do you say to the millions of Americans that don't own a gun and say,it wouldn't effect me if they did away with the Second Amendment?

I guess I just shake my head and wonder to myself how people can be so utterly stupid.

I don't recall who said it but, I tend to agree with the guy who said "An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject."

In my post above, Iwas not in any way intimating that they aren't all important.

All are important, the second & first have been most under attack. Studying the constitution & history, it is the second amendment that undergirds the whole thing, whether some believe it or not.

We fight big brother mainly through the first 2 amendments, though I hope we examine those we elect to office so that we don't have to ever put #2 into play.

Wow, someone who really knows their history. Well said, Whitehorse. Well said. Somewhere buried in my "things", I have a tape of transcripts from the founders and the early days - a conversation that has always stuck with me (sorry, I'll butcher this because I don't have it in front of me), says something to the effect of "God help us if we ever have to deal with the reality of the 2nd Amendment.".
