Several threads have touched here and there on this subject but as far as I can tell, the question hasn't been addressed directly. Ifferd's recent comment that the imaginary gun control push is nothing more than propaganda to persuade voters to sheepishly punch a straight party ticket got me thinking, what is the most important Amendment to our Constitution?
Sure, our rights and freedoms are set up to support one another, but what holds it all together?

All are important, the second & first have been most under attack. Studying the constitution & history, it is the second amendment that undergirds the whole thing, whether some believe it or not.
We fight big brother mainly through the first 2 amendments, though I hope we examine those we elect to office so that we don't have to ever put #2 into play.

Wow, someone who really knows their history. Well said, Whitehorse. Well said. Somewhere buried in my "things", I have a tape of transcripts from the founders and the early days - a conversation that has always stuck with me (sorry, I'll butcher this because I don't have it in front of me), says something to the effect of "God help us if we ever have to deal with the reality of the 2nd Amendment.".
