The other night my wife answered the phone to find a pollster from current IL Governor Rod Blago's office asking if he could count on our vote in the upcoming election.
For those of you who may not know, Blago is extremely anti-gun, supportsanything resembling an "assault weapons ban",and has done his best to ruin the management of our natural resources, public hunting areas, and state parks by cutting funding to the bone. The only pro-gun/hunting thing he did that I'm aware of in his whole term was to back the construction of a large shooting complex near St. Louis in the hopes that it would be a huge source of revenue for his pet programs.
My wife is well aware of my feelings regarding Blago's performance, and told the caller that she would "absolutely not" be voting for him, and that he should speak to her husband regarding the matter.
I then told the pollster that I would only consider voting for Blago if I could be convinced that he would suddenly become trustworthy, abolish the future possibility of having state-level gun bans, propose a concealed carry program for IL (which is one of only two states that does not have one), and turn around several other of his policies 180 degrees, including those involving the DNR.
The caller then said:
"I see."
"I'll just put you down as undecided then."...and immediately hung up.
I don't thinkany of ushave to wonder too hard about how many times this man and his coworkers have falsified their poll results. I now know first-hand that the publishedresults cannot be trusted, but why should Blago's polls have any more integrity than the rest of his actions, orhis re-election campaign?
If it wasn't for Cook county (Chicago), IL would be a red state, and life would be good.

The fact that he is leading in those polls shows just how screwed up the Illinois republican party is... This guy is going to be the second governor in a row to spend time in the gray bar motel after his time is over/cut short...
It used to be that Kane, Dupage and the other collar counties were so strong repub that they would swing the state around to go Republican but they are no longer overwhelmingly republican as they once were..
I had a call very similar to that one Bulzeye.. But instead they tried to lead me into saying I would vote for Blago... I finally just said "I will never vote for Rod Blagovich."

We can thank mandatory Section-8 housingthroughout the suburbs, and city folks (dependant on big government to support them) moving away from the city's overpopulation and crime problems that they helped create and propagate. Now it's out here, and so are their short-sighted votes.

where was the phone calls before thel election???? Talk is cheap and action is what people want done..This is to what the people want, some times rome does rule...Mob rules...
The collar counties are still predominately Republican, but you're right, not like they used to be.
Blago actually carried quite a bit of the state. Almost all of the more populated counties in 'downstate' Illinois gave him the majority of their votes. [:@]
I can understand the Crook County votes for him, the Chicago Machine isn't dead yet. I really don't understand the downstaters voting for him. Grrr.
