Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Let's try this for gun control

Ok, since you guys (Reps) seem to think the "big bad Dems" are out to take your guns, what is your solution?

1. Would you have any bans/limitations at all, (if so, state them)or

2. Would you let whoever (felons, known drug users, etc.)wants a gun to have whatever gun they want? (Free for all if you will)

All you guys have done is bash Dems on this topic, but you've offered NO solution to the problem yourself. Let's see the Rep wisdom river flow...

What's wrong with leaving it as itis, now? Why don't YOU explain why you think we need more gun control? Please explain what the "problem" is that requires the federal government to step in and solve.

I'm not the one fussing about it, ya'll are! I

If it's fine the way it is, what's the fuss over then? You guys keep harping "oh, the Dems gonna take our guns" and fuss about what limitations there already are . Now you say they are fine. Which is it?

I'm pretty much happy w/ them as is. I do think it should 100% illegal for a convicted felon to posses, let alone own, a firearm of any type for a period of time (which could be debateable depending on the type of felony). Possibly for good. There's a start, your turn.

Do you really believe someone who has been in prison (for example) for rape, murder, etc. should be allowed to own whatever gun they want to? Surely not.

Gun control is necessary for several other reasons. NOT everybody is responsible citizens you know. Most people in here seem to be pretty responsible. But, you gotta admit, there's a lot of people out there who should NEVER have a gun in their hand. EVER!

That's why GC is necessary.

If you don't trust them with a gun, they shouldn't be out.

Have you actually been reading what has been said?

This thread is about the Democrats platform on gun control; i.e. the things they had on the table when they lost control in 1994, and the things they will put back on the table if they retake control. Nobody has suggested simply erasing all gun laws from the books.

Here are some questions for you:

Assume that I am a rational individual who has never in his life had anything worse than a speeding ticket.

Should I be able to own an AR-15 if I want one?

Should I be able to purchase magazines holding more than 6 or 10 rounds?

If I pass instant check, should I nonetheless have to wait 10 days or more to pick up my firearm?

If I reload for the various sports I participate, should I have to have a Federal Arsenal License in order to buy 1000 primers?

Should I have to have an arsenal license and be subjected to annual home invasions by the BATFE if I have more than 20 firearms?

Should I even be allowed to own a handgun?

Right on! That's what I've said for years.

Thats the way I see it should be....If someone was released from prison and did all their time and probation then they should be able to have all their rights reinstalled.....Why release them then if they are not ready for the streets and to be trusted????? Stupid law,They can still get guns if they want them out on the streets....If they are registered then you got a chance of actually catching them if they do commit another gun felon than if they had a throw away.... The laws are stupid as hell...

Assuming you are rational, levelheaded, etc. Sure, why not?[8D] But, I still don't believe those things will come to pass. I just don't. It's a political scare tactic, and it's working thus far.

NT,

Ofcourse not. But, they get let out every day by judges who are affliated w/ BOTH parties. And, yes, you can play too!

This thread is NOT meant for bashing. That wasn't my intention here. It's just that, since you guys seem to have it all figured out, I just wanted to hear what you would do different. NONE of you have mentioned anything in the other thread(s) about your own solutions.

OK, I don't believe that taking everyone's gunsis very high on the priority list for either party at this moment. Look at all of the other way more important issues, Iraq, Immigration, I think that the laws we have now are the laws we're gonna have in 10 years, regardless of who gets into office.
