(CNN) -- "The past weekend, U.S. and Iraqi forces engaged militias, or members of an illegal militia, during a mission to capture a high-value target," President Bush said last week. "The reason I bring this up is that we're on the move; we're taking action; we're helping this young democracy succeed."
Bush acknowledges the role of sectarian hatred. "The violence is being caused by a combination of terrorists, elements of former regime criminals and sectarian militias," he said last week.
I think the reality is we made a bad situation much worse in Iraq. I doubt our generation will ever see even the "relative" peace that they had under Sadam.

CNN has video footage of these nut cases taking sniper shots at the troops ( most were shots to the back )...the video was sent by a Islamic group looking to talk with the US...they must pay with their own deaths for this first... ( Did I sound like an Arab there? )
I doubt our generation will ever see even the "relative" peace that they had under Sadam.
Well, "relative" must be a relative term. What "peace are you referring to? The one with Kuwait or the one with Iran? Or maybe the Kurds? Or his own people? I know that sounded like a smart-a**.
Saddam didn't have 24 hour press coverage of his murdering his own people. The islamic terror cells & their sectarian & former Saddam loyalist allies are not very distinguishable in real life. The all want to see a free Iraq fail. The answer is certainly not handing these forces a victory by leaving before the mission is completed & the Iraqi forces can handle their own security & defense.
I would like to see the offense be ramped up there with more specialized troops & tactics that totally eradicate these terror & other cells, not just fight in standard urban warfare where the battles are won but the enemy is not totally obliterated.
Actually that country was relatively peaceful prior to our entry.
Hussein had the mess under control. We don't. Relatively speaking...
We've have the capability for keeping the same peace if we used the same means. We don't. We're trying to build a civilized government over there and that can't be done but indiscriminently whacking your own people.
In terms of "peace" though, they had 10 years of war with Iran and killed thousands of Kuwaitis, threatened Saudi Arabia, etc.
I think the reality is we made a bad situation much worse in Iraq. I doubt our generation will ever see even the "relative" peace that they had under Sadam.
I wonder if the women raped in front of thier children and husbands would prefer the "relative" peace that they had under Sadaam?
I wonder if the thousands of Kurds gassed by Sadaam would prefer the "relative" peace that they had under Sadaam?
I am sure that members of the Baath party did enjoy the "relative" peace that they had under Sadaam?
The big difference now is that the Iraqi people them selfs are bringing this upon them selfs rather then Sadaam doing it.
