Default Attorney to be sentenced for aiding terrorists

Is this the new face of terrorism?>

NEW YORK (AP) -- In a letter to the judge, civil rights lawyer Lynne Stewart proclaimed "I am not a traitor."

She acknowledged that she zealously tried to save a blind Egyptian sheik from life in prison for plotting to blow up New York City landmarks.
But she argued that the government's characterization of her was wrong and took unfair advantage of the "hysteria that followed 9/11 and that was re-lived during the trial."

On Monday, that judge was to decide whether Stewart, 67, should join her former client behind bars for enabling him to communicate with his followers. Prosecutors asked for the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

As I understand it, the aiding terrorists charge was made for her passing on information to other terrorists from her client which is not something that would be beneficial to winning the case for her client. Even lawyers sometimes cross the line and should be treated like everybody else and not some special class of citizens (no offense to NT personally).

I understand she was also thumbing her nose at the light sentence, saying she could do 28 months standing on her head. I hope she's wearing PANTS when she does !

Personally, I think they should just stomp her guts into the pavement because she's no better than the subhuman whom she defended...was he not the sightless babboon who planned the 1993 World Trade Center bombing ?
