Dems Gonna' Clean Up Congress???????

Oh the moral outrage over the current Republican scandal! The Dems in Congress would never stand for such! Investigate, resign, heads should roll! Man, if this had been a Dem involved in such activity, things would sure be different! Oh wait, there's been two in recent history........and things sure were handled differently........do a little research on Barney Frank and Gerry Studds to see just how the Dems would treat such a sick worm caught in their midst.

Now, now. . . Don't go dragging skeletons out of the Democrats' closet. The news media seems to have decided that they aren't worth mentioning. The Democrats are obviously morally superior to the Republicans and would swiftly deal with one of their own caught in a smilar situation.

Let's recap:

1.) Foley's intentions were certainly less than honerable, but he apparently did NOT have sex with this kid. UNLIKE the Democrat caught in the same situation.

2.) Unlike the aforementioned situation, not ONE Republican official or commentator (that I've seen) has defended Foley.

3.) I guarantee you that if Foley is indicted and convicted on crimal charges related to this, Bush will not pardon him before leaving office as Clinton did in the aforementioned instance.

On this same subject, has anyone read the emails that the Republican leadership was privvy to? I hadn't actually seen them in their full context until this morning. They're pasted below. Obviously, the later IMs were much more graphic and prove what Foley's intentions really were. But the Republican leadership did not see those IMs. These emails are what they saw. Is there anything in these that raise red flags? They're a little odd, no doubt, but is there anything in there that screams SEXUAL PERVERT? Maybe I'm wrong; I don't see it.

I beg to differ smoke--they aren't all the same. Have you heard even one Republican congressman stand up for Foley?Any Republican period?

On the flip side, Frank ignored censure, was re-elected, and got a gov't retirement package when he CHOSE to retire years later. I believe it was Frank who also recieved 3 standing ovations from his fellow Dems during the mess. Studds wound up being prosecuted and convicted, but a Dem president--Bill Clinton--signed a presidential pardon for him during his last hours in office. Foley has been using an excuse that sounds straight from the Dem play-book--"I'm glad to finally announce that I am gay, and besides that I was drinking/drunk when I wrote those messages, so it's not my fault. I'm very sorry (that I got caught)."

Nope--they are a bit different, in this instance at least. And what in the world does this have to do with Iraq?????????

Foley is definitely a scumbag and many people on the Democrat side are in denial. Those emails are not something that would lead any reasonable person to believe Foley was a pedophile. From what I've heard (only read a few snippets) about the IM's, Foley is defintely a reprehensible scumbag and a pervert. I've heard a lot of Democratic leaders spin the heck out of this and try to pillory Republican leaders in the press with misleading statements. If any congressman (Republican or Democrat) knew about those IM's and did nothing, they should be fired from Congress and prosecuted for any applicable crimes. And as for the scumbags who had the IM's for the last 1 or 3 years (I've heard both timelines now), they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and I hope they get a special place in hell. Anybody who would use a juvenile (or anybody else) for political gain while risking that person's safety is a worse scumbag than even Foley.[:@]

After all, they are politicians right? (Not to be judging anyone or nothing) But, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, well--it just might be a duck!!!!!

BTW, Dems. have never acted "sqeaky clean". We know we're not perfect and make mistakes. Reps. on the other hand, tend to have some sort of "holier than thou" attitude. To me, most of them are poster boysof the Biblical scribes and pharisees.

When was the last time Bush admitted to making ANY mistakes? In his eyes, he hasn't. Most everyone else knows better. Is he a "bad" man? Probably not. Just not what he makes himself out to be.There's alot more tobeing "conservative" than just being against homosexuals and abortion you know!

Gerry STudds did have sex with a 17-year old page, but the law at the time said the age of consent was 17, so no crime was committed.
