If the U.S. dont leave the U.N. Im going to puke.
When the U.N. backs ingrates like Chavez, why should we keep them in our hemisphere? When anidiot like Chavez gets a warm welcome from the U.N. , and a lasting applause for a mindless diatribe, why should we fit the bill. U.S. get out of the U.N.. Let the retards run themselves. Im sick of footing the bill.[:'(][:'(]

RE: If the U.S. dont leave the U.N. Im going to puke.
The UN leadership is corrupt...yet they still lead. Most of the Anti-US countries head up critical commissions (like the human rights commission which, last time I checked, was Libya). The EU is mostly socialist and do not see commonality with the US anymore. They host BS like the travesty yesterday from CHavez and the Iranian Insect, all with a warm welcome and hearty applause. When some nation causes mayhem and the UN decides 'peacekeeping' forces are needed, every other nation sends in a token number of troops...except for us.....who are commanded by foreign militiary leadership.....
I agree, we should be out of there except for 1 thing. We have VETO POWER over any resolution they can come up with. So, the way I see it, if the UN proposes a resolution banning small arms in the hands of civilians (non-military) like they are/were trying to do this summer, as long as we have a 2nd Amendment in this country, we can choose to VETO the resolution, even though all other nations on earth may ratify it. I hate the cost, and I hate the rest of the hacks and corruption associated with the UN but I'm afraid we're better off in it, than out of it, even if it's only to push them in a certain direction when we can, and veto when we must.

RE: If the U.S. dont leave the U.N. Im going to puke.
We had our turn as the host for the UN and now it is time for some other nation to take the lead. We pay for approximately 22 percent of the bill plus donate the site and from a tax payers point of view I am tired of it. In addition, I am sick and tired of paying huge taxes every year and reading about all the money that is spent all around the world helping other nations who really hate us. Now is a time for change and I could give 2 craps about any of these third world countries that need our aid. We have plenty of work here in the states to improve upon and should spend our money here instead of sending it to corrupt countries where it doesn't even get down to the people. I understand we get 1/3 of our oil from Venezuela perhaps it is time to look elsewhere. They don"™t like us and now we don"™t like them.

RE: If the U.S. dont leave the U.N. Im going to puke.
In 2005 the US paid $5,327,276,000.
The United Nations and all its agencies and funds spend about $20 billion each year, or about $3 for each of the world's inhabitants.
There are 192 members last time I looked so you can see we are paying the lion's share of the expense.

As far as the UN goes, yes it has some awkward moments but would you rather have it headquartered in Europe?
As if that would make any difference ? We get the hose regardless of where it comes from , so why have it here at our own expense ? Participation in the UN , along with kowtowing to their resolutions , is entirely voluntary . We don't need to participate , and we certainly don't have to obey them . The current corrupt version of the UN is every bit as useless and anti US as it's predecessor that we also created , the League of Nations , and both have been abject failures at what they're supposed to do . Time to reclaim our real estate and kick the UN out . I understand that Venezuela would love to host them , good , the financial drain on their economy alone would be worth it .
