State Attorney General Bill Lockyer said the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Northern California was the first of its kind to seek to hold manufacturers liable for the damages caused by their vehicles' emissions.
The lawsuit also names Chrysler Motors Corp., the U.S. arm of Germany's DaimlerChrysler (DCXGn.DE), and the North American units of Honda Motor Co. (7267.T) and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (7201.T)

Those companies should refuse to sell another car, truck, or even a rear-view mirror to CA--see how long the suit lasts.

If those clowns want this money, they should be forced to surrender all technology, wealth, assets, and any other tangible benefits derived from the advent of the internal combustion engine throughout history.

So what's next there. Getting sued for passing gas? Must be a different planet than where I live. No lawyer jokes...I promise NT..even though I am tempted to say something about those ambulance chasing muck dogs looking for a quick mil at the expense of all humanity.

wonder if they (in their screwed-up minds) expect some kind of financial retribution (I would guess so) or do they expect to change things when it comes to automotive manufacturing.
I know this is not quite on subject but one thing I saw on the news the other day was how CA led by ARRRNOLD was instituting a substantial program for R&D for hydrogen fuel cell cars and infrastructure--that seemed like a good idea. Also I believe that they are one of the states that has seen fit to try to initiate their own regualtion of greenhouse gas effect (similar to what the Kyote agreement would have been--if the current Admin had signed on to that)
In no way do I agree with 99.99% of things that come out of CA but those particular things seemed positive--I believe that this suit will be fruitless and rightfully so, but I do believe change is in order (for greenhouse gas emissions) in the future and have trouble with the federal reluctance to institute some kind of well thought out far reaching initiative.

From my observations from having lived there , how can a state with more registered drivers than any other , and which is also heavily industrialized , have the stones to complain about pollution or greenhouse gasses ? Idiots ...
