My son and his wife live in a small house on the same lot as her parents. A few days ago, a couple of teenagers used a crowbar to break into his house and stole a bunch of stuff: playstation II, games, digital camera, videos, etc. They then broke into his in-laws house and grabbed a bunch of jewelry and some other stuff. The mother in law got home and they ran out the back and jumped the fence. A couple other neighbors saw them as well, and recognized them as teenagers who lived a few blocks away, and who had broken into other houses in the area. Total little piece of **** scumbag low-life wastes of protoplasm.
Police were called and went to try to arrest them, but the kids weren't at the house when they went by, so they left. The father-in-law kept his eyes on their place, and when the teenagers returned home, he called the police out, and the teenagers were arrested. Now, my son says that people have thrown stuff at the father-in-law, and that Wednesday afternoon, as my son was leaving for class at the fire academy, he got out to close the gate, and some scumbag stopped behind his car to "stare him down..."
What is it with people who seem to think they have a right to break into someone else's house and take their stuff? And, why do relatives/friends or whatever, seem to think that if it's reported and the little scumbag pieces of garbage get arrested, the victim of the crime did something wrong and deserves to be threatened, assaulted, intimidated, etc.? Do these people actually believe that breaking into someone else's house and stealing their stuff is not deserving of punishment?
Same crap happens everywhere, and unless someone can get a clean shot and remove them from the gene pool, I predict they will pass on their dna to the next generation. An appropriate punishment would be to make them get a job and pay restitution, then they would see what it actually feels like to lose something. I would document all happenings and report anything out of the ordinary to the police. Then I would take out a full page ad in the local paper alerting others to the dangers these scumbags pose. Ipscshooter, what state do they live in? In CA, these actions would likely be a crime (threaten/harass/intimidate a victim) which is a felony and a good arrest.
