Apart from the fact that she is a cutie for a "mature" woman (Lanse likey), I think that the whole story surrounding her new job is grossly hyped. When I heard that there were sites where the hot topic was speculating on what her outfit would be on her first broadcast, I knew that the intelligence level of American society had sunken to an alltime low.[]

Actually, I liked Bob Schieffer. I certainly don't want Katie Couric's editorial opinion on anything and I seemed to get the feeling that there may be a good bit of that in the future CBS news.

I dont watch her, but I feel she is all hype. Barbra Walters broke the ice years go, I feel this is a ploy to get ratings.

I liked Scheiffer too. It is hard for me to view Katie as the voice of the evening news. I grew up watching Walter Cronkite and trusted his reporting. I never cared for Dan Rather and felt he was a poor replacement for Cronkite when he retired. Schieffer reminded me of Cronkite. He just seemed like he was a voice of authority and commanded respect. Katie was cute as the morning person but I doubt that she will win me over on the evening news. She looks different to me now. I wonder what she did cosmetically. Her eyes look kind of funny now as compared to her pic I posted on top.

Any possibility of my liking her ceased when she said Saddam hopefully exiled in Syria at the outset of Gulf War II. Anybody who roots for the enemy gets no respect from me!

Doug- great point. Sadly, there is a lot of that going on these days, both in the Democratic AND in the Republican parties. It's pretty disgusting.

I'm happy to be associated with neither. Although Ivote consistently witha specific party, I can't ignore the fact that there are somein the Republican party who are doing their best for us to lose this war. I think they may be looking for exposure because the elections are coming up, but torisk citizens and soldiers' lives while trying to get your name in the news is rediculous andcowardly.
