Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Saddam. Not a Dictator ?

ok ok ok....was he or wasn't he?

BAGHDAD, Iraq"”The chief judge in Saddam Hussein's genocide trial said Thursday that he did not believe the former Iraqi leader was a dictator.

Are we starting to see a reversal in the mood towards Saddam ??[&:]

Of course he was but most importantly, at least for now, he is a prisoner. I have a funny feeling this thing will not turn out like we thought it would. The trials will drag on and when full scale civil war breaks out over there we will leave..he will stay. He is their prisoner not ours. He is being tried by Iraq not the US. Lots of possibilities here and most are not good.

It seems that the trial has been a circus since the beginning. Hussein often interrupts with outbursts during testimony and on other occasions has refused to appear in court. I still can't figure the latter out. He should be dragged into the courtroom with duct tape on his mouth.

Any bets he gets back into leadership power in the future?

I wouldn't put it anywhere near 40%, but since he was taken alive, and no one seems interested in fighting a real war, I wouldn't rule out a major comeback by S.H. in the future, especially if he ends up being jailed instead of quickly executed.

I hate to say it but I don't see them executing him. Their government is probably as close to us as they ever will be right now and that is because we are the ones doing most of the work. Give it time and the usual anti Western sentiments will creep in because IMO democracy isn't in the cards for them. Civil war will mean the people who supported him will try to regain control. They had an iron fist on that country for 30 years and shouldn't have much trouble gaining power again as soon as we leave.

what a freakin' gong show this is

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/09/25/saddam.trial/index.html

Al-Khalefa: "The court has decided to expel the defendant Saddam Hussein from this court."
Hussein: "I request, I demand not to be present."
Al-Khalefa: "Give him this demand -- take him out ... I decide if you are going to be present or not. That's my decision. Take him out."

I don not see them executing him either. And I also feel when all
is said and done he will be back in power also. After all like it or
not he did control the people of Iraq.
