How many of you give blood?

Well I just got back from my last time.
I am type O which is always in demand.I have been giving blood for more than twenty five year so I have seen the changes over the years.
With Aids and all the other tests the process has gotten longer and very personal.
So today after Reading the little book and answering to many questions about my sex life .I went behind the curtain to have my finger stuck with the pin and once again assure those present that I do not have sex with animals or whores ,the alert man nurse noticed I had a piece of gauze on my finger.I had cut it at the shop last night.Without asking to see this cut he and another head nurse decided I was not a safe donor.And I was told to leave.
I did and I won't go back.

What happened? How could a minor laceration increase the risk of anything?

They said a cut cause by steel could by prone to infection.

I have bleed more from shaving than this caused.It was a clean piece of tool steel I was taking off my mill ,and it had a sharp burr.

Last DecemberI had major back surgery so I have had more tetanus shots & various B.S. than most people would in a life time.

What really pizzes me off is that the Red Cross calls my home & my shop begging me to come in then after taking a hour to listen to all their B.S they tell me a cut makes me ineligible.If the cut would of been any where but on the end of my finger they never would of seen it.Andas I stated before neither of the nurses bother to look at it.

lol i cant because i have a tattoo. but i wouldnt do it anyways if they are like that. i have never went through this but how in the hell could they even tell if you had sex with "animals"( i am hoping this was just a joke)...

Its no joke my parents quit giving many years ago because they were embarrassed by the questions.
If you have had sex with animals or even with other people that might of had sex with an animal.There are many countries on the list where sex with animals is common and they want to know if you have traveled to them.I.E. as missionaries or just traveling.
A great thing about answering these question in person is that they give you a piece of paper with two bar coded stickers on it one is a good one and the other is for you to use if you did not want to admit to bestiality in person, no one can read them there you just go give your blood and leave and when your blood gets to the lab they throw it away.
See how thoughtfully they are.

Yet in large cities the Red Cross will pay for your blood as long as you lie and tell them you don't do drugs.

I've done it twice. I feel it is an important service to do for one another, but it really makes me sick!!!

My wife donates2 or 3 times per year.

I used to, I played rugby in college. Now I just go to the blood bank when they have a blood drive.

I donate blood all the time in college for the Red Cross, but thats because there is a large blood drive every semester. Your blood is broken down into three parts, that go could potentially to three different people. They don't want to risk infecting others. It is a hassle to go through the entire process and then be told you can't donate. But it is still a worthy activity that can potentially save lives. As for the questions, if you don't trade sex for drugs or vice versa, if you don't engage in homosexual sex or engage in prostitution (those are all real questions from the health history section)then there isn't anything to be embarrased about. Also, I think the Red Cross has done away with the Use/Don't Use My Blood Sticker because of safety concerns.
